    Rossi to drive Italian car?

Multiple MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi could make his long-awaited single-seater racing debut in the coming season of A1GP.

A1GP Team Italy have confirmed that negotiations over a drive have taken place with Rossi, but his availability is likely to be limited by his winter testing programme with Yamaha.

Team Italy seat holder Piercarlo Ghinzani made no secret of his desire to encourage Rossi on board.

"It would be a fantastic situation to have him," he said. "I am a friend of Valentino's and we have spoken about it."

It's unlikely that anything will materialize this year....but it would be great to watch him in A1GP. I can't seem to get enough Moto GP.

it was close a couple of years ago for Rossi to join the Ferrari F1 team. Now this F1 dream is over, even though he kinda regret it. He recently extended his contract with Yamaha until 2010.

I'm sure in the future he will be seen in some other kind of racing series.

That was an exciting time for sure, but I think we all knew deep down that it wasn't going to happen. I'm not so sure he's regretting that decision either.

His success isn't really fading in MotoGP. Wanna see something cool?? Put Dani, Vale, and Casey on identical Ducatis for a series shootout. Say a Best of 5??
He's got some stiff competition finally. His success in F1 would be merely hypothetical.

He had ONE Rally scheduled for last year that couldn't transpire because of his commitments to Yamaha, so I think that with this new 'till '10 contract, it's safe to say he's not going to commit to the the (albeit relatively short) A1GP season even as a 'replacement' driver

I found this article from Rossi from a couple of months ago.
I also read somewhere it was up to Rossi but that he ultimately didn't risk the move.

Stoner is 'lucky enough' to have a bike which top speed is way faster to compensate what he loses in time at breaking and technical corners.

Rossi has 'some regrets' regarding F1

Flamboyant MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi has admitted he would like to know how he would have fared had he decided to switch to Formula One with Ferrari a few years ago.
The Italian tested for the famous Maranello marque several times, and seriously considered switching codes, but ultimately decided to stay on two wheels.
"'Sorry' is not the right word," Rossi, now 29, is quoted as saying by the publication Affari Italiani on Wednesday, "but I do have some regrets because I am still curious to know what I could have done."
Rossi, who at the Le Mans circuit last Sunday equalled motorcycle great Angel Nieto's tally of 90 victories, explained that he simply baulked at moving to F1.
"I was doing well in the testing -- it had always been my dream to race with Ferrari. But at that time I was not ready for the jump and I was in the middle of the motorcycles."
"Driving F1 cars is extremely satisfying," he added. "It is less a vehicle and more like an aeroplane, giving you great sensations. But for a motorcyclist it is also a strange feeling; putting your legs into a black hole."
Rossi refuses to rule out switching to four wheels at some time in the future.
"I want to do some more racing (in MotoGP) and then I want to spend some seasons with my passion; the cars. Perhaps rallying, maybe something else," he said.

Unfortunately, Rossi reject the offer to race for A1 Team Italy this season.
He is not interested to race on A1 and F1. He just driving a F1 car for fun only.

This will be amazing. He will do well if given the chance to race for the Italian A1 GP car.

These rumours had also hit F1 2 seasons back but Rossi finds his comfort level on the Moto GP bike only. He has no plans to join in the A1 GP from next season.
