    1st Round cancelled

    A1GP statement
    Saturday, October 17, 2009
A1GP World Cup of Motorsport was forced to withdraw from participation in SuperGP Nikon on the Gold Coast in Australia, 22-25 October, was the first race of the series of the season five.

The series was in a race against time, the deadline for their cars when leaving the UK to do on the way to Surfers Paradise next Thursday. The organizers of the series have ever doubted that was possible, but today had to, it cannot happen now accept.

This decision was announced by A1GP Chairman Tony Teixeira supported that all was involved in the incident address.

"I want the people who said this unfortunate but necessary decision to make, to apologize," Teixeira.

"The Queensland Government's Gold Coast Motor Events Co, Administration and chairman of the event have been patient and support us in recent weeks.

"We were proud to be part of that one of the most iconic sports car in the world, and the decision we had devastated. We also know the amateur race in Australia that we are hosting this event protective've and her arms open to receive. To apologize, and I like to emphasize also that we have a show for them, they would never be forgotten. "
In view of what is to A1GP, the Gold Coast Motor Events Co lost fee, and donate AUS $ 50,000 for a charity designated report. Also, the contractors directly from A1GP, which already carry the costs incurred for us to fully refund.

One effect of the British branch of the reach of June in bankruptcy is presented, is that access to cars and may have to pay their suppliers, has been hindered. What would a summer modernization of machines in time for the first race of the 2009/10 season have become a frustrating time to achieve this goal?

Looking to the future Teixeira said: "We recently announced that 19 teams were ready to race in Australia. I know they have to still run our unique series pits nation against nation undertakes.

"A1GP is possible, but I cannot accept that we are. We have four exciting season have proven that we have a force in the sport and now we consolidate what we have achieved. My efforts are you looking for a path with the support of some very loyal. “

Very sad, is looking forward to.

Looks like the whole series is on the verge of collapse, when a new investor into the game.

It seemed inevitable since the end of last season, would not return to A1GP, am very sad because I always loved the series, if there is something to focus on the season.

Unfortunately, the concept is something that because race is not really national identity defects has adopted since the 1960s, and placed the emphasis on individual drivers and not nations, so how many teams is rarely the same driver for the season, the automatic update was required goes beyond the interest of the series limit.

I would like to see it continue, but I'm really not sure how it is for us now that the series seems to support, and high debt have lost.

From 1 year A1GP, I wondered if it impacts on their income. There are no sponsors for most cars and most teams and events will not pay penalty fees. So where are the revenues? May history judge that there is no revenue to the current situation?

This series is over, I'm afraid.

For my part, very disappointed, but some cling to the hope of slipping Tetchy. A1 Grand Prix series can often placed close to some fantastic racing and had some tip top riders, with a few recruits who even go for some fun mixed race. Often, the operating time was significantly better than more material around the world "Established & Higher Level Series.

Fingers crossed. But realistically, I'm not too optimistic for the future.
