As far as I recall, the SMART is the smallest car in the world. Anybody aware of anything even smaller that's still legal to be on the road (and has four wheels  )

Well i've got something pretty interesting but unexpected for everyone.
What is that? That is the smallest car ever made and it measures at 4x3 nanometers. Note that a human hair is 80,000 nanometers thick. :D:D Apparently made out of molecules. Scientists seem to be experimenting with mini transportation vehicles that will be able to transport atoms around.
:) Molecular-F1, looool

Has the car got to be smaller in height, surface area or length because a 1960's mini is much smaller than a SMART and it is road legal but a Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe is smaller in height than a SMART car so, be very specific with your question lol.

Actually Anthony, although the Mini of the 60s was small, I think the SMART is even smaller. 8) - Maybe I can dig out some exact measurements...
BTW: Welcome to the forum mate ;)

I've searched for measurements and eventhough I couldn't find anything, to be honest, I didn't look for a long time so maybe we'll just have to walk around and chase cars down a motorway and measure them from a-far. If you can get the car I have loads of rulers stuck together with tape sooo, it's your move now. Lol.

Well after searching for a while i came to understand that the car we are looking for is considered a "microcar" these are cars considered to be less than 3 metres in leangth as far as i understood. Now there are a ton of these vehicles.
But out of all of these we still i think can find a definite winner, an old one maybe, but still the one we're looking for.
The Peel P50 is 134 cm (53 in) long, 99 cm (39 in) wide, and 134 cm (53 in) high, smaller than an average fairground bumper car. The vehicle was built by Peel Engineering Co. at Peel, Isle of Man, UK, from 1962 until 1965. The lightweight single-seater car was capable of speeds of up to 64 km/h (40 mph). The car was not a big seller since it was very unstable, cramped and noisy. Neither did it have a reverse gear.
Don't embaress yourself getting a parking fine with one of these, just take it with you to your office...inside, :D :D

I made one of those once out of Lego.

loool, i think we can all agree that either way man or woman that isn't exactly the way you should dress presenting the smallest car ever created, lol...in fact you shouldn't dress like that at all :p ...unless you have a good reason to...maybe it was part of a "fun", "clowny" advertising campaign...ahem...maybe...im just...trying to help the guy...girl...woman........it....

Get Poirot on the case, I say.
He needs to grow his mustache a bit to deal with motorsport cases, like a flying "Nige" mustache would help him solve the case :D

I'd love it if he grew a goatee. But then to complete the look he'd have to become a student, take crystal meths, eat nothing but pot noodles and change his name to Simon.

Change his first or second name to Simon?
carlramskill
23rd Jul 2006, 05:32 PM
Both. It shouldn't be Hercule Poirot, it should be Simon Simon.
Anthony
23rd Jul 2006, 06:51 PM
He'd get alot more cases for the police instead of just choosing which cases he takes if he was called Simon Simon.

He'd get even less if he was called Spanky McGoo.

We need none of them. What we need is a new guy, an F1 and car size investigator. Actually, why don't you step of to the line carlramskill. Just put on a robe or something, put some Mobil oil for the Mustache and you should be set. :D :p

I found a report dating from 1997 describing how scientists in Australia were able to develop a 5 milimeter (0.2 inch) long car. They demonstrated it by making it go round a coin at its top speed of 0.36 km/h :D
