I'm just wondering what other sports people here follow.
I follow football (Arsenal) Rugby union (All Blacks, Highlanders)Cricket Tests and one dayers. Rugby League (Kiwis, Bulldogs, Warriors.)

Well I follow quite a lot of sports, and play them too.
But Formula 1 is the only one I watch regularly. Others include Tennis, NASCAR, DTM, Soccer (UEFA Cup, International Games), Olympics, Ski Jumping, Athletics (Like the 100M Sprints), Swimming (Michael Phelps Supporter) and Basketball (Mavericks)

F1 comes first for me, then football, skiing and tennis.

Erm, just F1 for me. I don't understand football. (I don't mean the rules. I'm not that slack.)

You know Cricket is among the very few sports that I never really liked (probably because I never understood it) or really played. I had a lot of friends of played it, and I did try it once for fun, but it just doesn't grab me...

Appart of from motorsports I follow hockey (the one on ice, off course) and I'm a big fan of biathlon which I think is one of the better TV sports out there. :)

Well I can also say that these days, introduction of technology is making it a bit boring. And then almost all the star players have retired or are yet to retire!

I also watch parts of the Tour de France when it's on.
Interesting that both Lance Armstrong and Michael Schumacher won the title seven times :wonder:

Well, that depends on if we won't have to eliminate you in the quarter or semi. :D
But, to be honest, I don't think Sweden's team will be that great in 2010. A lot of our top players are getting old and I don't think we have enough young talent that will come up to that standard. Niklas Bäckström is promising and will probably make his rookie NHL season next year but other than that I see no Forsberg prospects on the horizon...

REALLY? That's too bad. Is it a lack of interest from the kids?(potential up-and-comers)? I've always enjoyed Sweden's style of play and there are alot of talented finesse players to come from there. In world Jr's and World Cup etc., you're always my team, right behind Canada.
Has Bäckström been drafted yet? Who's he playing for?

I don't think it's because a lack of interest. Hockey is as big as ever. I think it just boilds down to that Sweden is a very small country. So getting a lot of outstanding talent at the same time is something that doesn't happen to frequently. I think for example Canada has about 8 times more registered players than Sweden.
Bäckström was drafted by Washington Capitals in 2006. Round 1 #4 choice overall. He's played two full seasons for Brynäs in SEL. 40 points in 45 games this season. He had a contract offer from Capitals this season but chose to stay an extra year in Sweden to get some more experience before making the move. A wise choice I think.

Last night the GF and I feasted on Mussels and I probably had a few to many 'India Pale Ales' (hey Jo, we need a 'feeling sick' smiley), but I was able to do some research on our respective countries hockey talent...
Now, given the shape I'm in, my math may be a little off, but Jenn and I checked it a dozen times.
Sweden has a little over 9million in population with 44 active NHL'ers.
Canada has a little over 33million in population with 444 active NHL'ers.
Now, unless I'm a complete toolshed, this means that 0.001345% of Canadians are in the NHL, whereas 4.888% of Swedes are in the NHL. PLEASE feel free to check my math.
This tells me that Sweden has a higher density of hockey talent than we do:eek: . All you need to to is make more babies:lol:

Agreed!
