Recently appointed Red Bull aerodynamicist Adrian Newey explained in an interview today that the reason Red Bull moved to Renault engine is attributable to the fundamentally different approach of Renaut.

He said that with Ferrari, the relationship was simple. They supplied engines as long as they got the money, and that was it. This surprises me, because I expected that Ferrari would use the very approach Renault is using.

"Renault are not supplying us engines for profit, they’re doing it – at best – at cost. They’re doing it because they want more units out in the field so that they can learn about the performance and reliability of the engine."

Wow!If this is true then Renault must be saluted for their such attitude.Otherwise, everyone is running madly after money, luxury etc!!

I do hope that Renault are true to their word about supplying equal engines but for some reason I have my doubts. I hope that I'm proved wrong.:)

Actually, I do find hard to believe that Ferrari would not be using their 4 on-track units to learn more about their engines...

That being said, I have always had the impression that the RedBull switch was more leaded by an Adrian Newey looking for an engine with less-demanding cooling requirements, than a real problem with their Ferrari deal. Officially, they have said that it "makes sense" for them to have Toro Rosso with Ferrari, so they can enjoy an "all italian" team; which I think is just a plain PR lie.
