Just wanted to ask how much more do you expect it will take until the entire database is restored?
I have to say that the recovery process is going faster than I expected, so keep it up  ;)

I'm not sure. The reason that it's going fast at the moment is because the easiest things have been done first...
When it comes down to starting all over again with 50 years of NASCAR history (Nextel, Winston, Busch, Craftsman, Grand National etc) things will unfortunately slow down a bit.
But so far it's been going quicker than I expected too. :)
And I'm updating new stuff as well so when we do get to 100% we're not just back to where we were but quite a bit further along the road.

Now it's mainly just a bunch of tedious loose ends to fix...

Still at 98.72%. I wonder how they come up with that exact number. Hopefully it'll be 100% soon. I've used this before and it really is a great resource for references. Although I think I'd take 98.72% instead of 0% any day of the week!

The exact figure is because the parts of the database that contained the pole positions weren't lost. When I found a backup that worked I could see the difference in lost entries as it was the number of entries for pole positions minus the number of entries found in the backup. It turned out that 9,384 entries had been wiped from the face of the earth.
What's missing now is really only:
1988 World Sports Prototype Championship
1989 World Sports Prototype Championship
I have all the race results for that so it's just a matter of compiling it.

That's definatly good. It's great to see how much dedication you have to go back and compile all those results. I certainly wouldn't have the patience for that. Good luck with your site - it really is a great resource!

It's not really full. There are some loose ends still there but I decided to take away the progress bar from the front page as it will probably take a while to get the last data back. The data now missing is a mix of things and there are a couple of duplications there as well so the real number would be close to 0.5% I think. (and to be honest the data now missing isn't exactly the most important and I'm guessing no one will really miss it). :D
