It was a very turbulent race, and if you didn't get a chance to see it, you should ;)

Franchitti made an early safety pitstop because of a cut tyre on lap 114, a move that would prove to be decisive. The rain set in shortly after to stop the race for three hours. Ultimately, the race ended with only 166 laps out of the usual 200.

What surprised me most what the accident of Marco Andretti. He just pulled across the track in an attempt to overtake the person in front of him, without noticing that Dan Wheldon was beside him! The accident that ensued caused Andretti's car to flip, but luckily he was uninjured. Probably he looked into his mirrors at the wrong time

I thought Marco had broken the mirror on the right side of the car.

Either way the spotter needed to be on that and alert him that Wheldon was still there.

I watched up until the rain delay. I thought they were going to call it, so I tuned out after a while. Why won't they race in the rain? Everybody else does:confused:

OH!, I forgot. No only is he lucky enough to win the race... He's married to Ashley Judd!! Hubba-hubba:p
Lucky guy.

Many reasons.

On ovals the cars suspension movement is completely used up by the centrifugal forces of the banking. So the cars are only milimeters off the track in the corners. This causes an IRL car aquaplane anytime above about 40mph.

Many more cars are going to be hitting those concrete walls in the rain aswell.

Racing in the rain on ovals is just dumb and is never done.

Tony Kanaan was the unlucky one. The race had enough laps in for the first rain delay and he was in first place and would of won it but since they went back out again, he didnt win.

I always have a big Indy 500 party at the house. May is a big time month around my house. I live about an hour from the track and Im there quite a bit.
