I got rained out at work again today:rolleyes:. Drive nearly an hour to the job, work for 90 minutes and it starts. Rain, sun, rain, sun. It's uncomfortably muggy too. How's that Hurricane watch going in your neck if the woods there Creampuff?:wonder:

On the plus side, I'm working in a fairly affluent and snotty part of town. This old guy on his wannabe Harley Davidson (I think it was a Yamaha) who lives across the street has TOTAL attitude. 'I'm bad a**', with my leather vest, my little skull cap and big burly beard:rolleyes:. Anyway, he was pulling out and I tried to smile and wave (he never smiles or waves), he shoots me a dirty look... And stalls it leaving his drive way!!:lol: Hilarity ensued. For me anyway. Good work cool-guy!:lol:. Oh, and I saw a licence plate frame that said, "I'm not speeding, I'm qualifying". Perfect...

Lovely:rolleyes:.

I was reading in the paper today that 6 people had been killed in your area because of the flooding. People stranded in cars in the flood waters:wonder:. I know it doesn't seem like much after what's happened over the past couple of years down there (Katrina), but stay safe bro:thumbsup:

It gets kinda crazy around here when it's like this. I was at wal-mart getting my hurricane supplies (ok ok Hurricane party supplies). The storm isn't supposed to head here but they are out of alot of stuff already. I went for sweet & sour mix, pineapple juice, oj, coke, 7up, buttershots (liquor store) and all the necessary survival stuff. Ok so we're gonna get trashed beyond recognition and worry about the Dean thing later. Hehehe. We'll be making hurricanes of course.

Has the flooding at least subsided a bit in your area? It was looking awfully soggy there a month ago:wonder:. Today we had a deluge of rain that rivaled some of our winter rain storms. It was gushing, and I got soaked.

These are a couple pics from last November just up Island a bit. During and after.

It's getting colder and colder here, but still isn't cold enough to snow.

I always enjoy the coldest parts of the winter, because it has the best part of winter. Outdoor hockey.

Last year some friends and I built a huge rink outside our residence, and held a big campus wide 3-on-3 tournament. The rink was runner up in the CBC's nationwide backyard rinks competition. If we had won we'd have gotten free tickets to the Stanley Cup finals.

I miss outdoor rinks:( It doesn't get cold enough on the Island.

We used to make them in the back-yard when I lived in Alberta as a kid. My dad would get furious when he came home from work and the lawn was flooded and frozen:lol: And they were terrible, all lumpy with chunks of grass sticking out:lol:

That's a nice looking rink for sure:thumbsup: I remember seeing that on HNIC.

It's snowing like mad here. A couple cm's an hour, and it's supposed to continue all night.

Here's hoping that classes are canceled tomorrow. If so than my semester is done a day early, as Tuesday is to be the last day of classes for the semester.

You're actually right on salty. It rarely gets above -10, and we did get 50cm in one day last week. They had to close the schools because of it.

This is actually very unlike a maritime winter. Usually it hovers around the 0 mark, with a mix of rain and snow, until well into January.

It's not the cold that makes you sick BB. It's the recycled, doors and windows shut, stagnant air that you (and everyone else) are breathing in whatever venue your in. Be it Walmart, work, school, church, liquor store, sauna... Being out-doors in winter doesn't make you sick;)

Yeah man the cold winter air also pushes away all the pollution, so the air is cleaner the colder it gets.

That's why I love it so much when it's like -40. You get all bundled-up so you're still warm, but the air so clean and crisp. It's more refreshing than a cold drink on the hottest summer day.

Yeah, good points. It also seems the harder I workout and push myself, the more stress is put on the body and I risk getting more frequent colds. Heavy weight training can put serious stress on your immune system.

Im mega dosing vitamin C rite now.

I'm no expert here, but I do know this. You shouldn't be working out if you sense you are getting ill. Rest. Don't overdo it! And your body can only synthesize so much Vitamin C (and many other Vit's and minerals) so you may just be peeing your money away:lol: I've found Echinacea (sp) to help both in the prevention of harsh cold symptoms at the outset as well as relief from the symptoms during and speeding recovery. You've got nothing to lose from drinking a bit of Echinacea tea once or twice a day while ill. And who can resist chicken noodle soup?!?:D

Oh and get well soon:thumbsup:

Thanks for the get well!:)

Yeah, I was going to work out today but my throat was sore and I had no energy. I agree, when Im sick, I dont workout, not good for the body plus if I feel I cant give 100%, why bother ?

Just when I was getting into the training. Everything was progressing quite nicely.:(

Yes, you will either pee or sweat extra vitamin C but Im a believer in it. Plus I take glutamine as well, I believe it helps the immune system.

I actually try to do more when I'm sick to "break" the cold or whatnot. Not sure that that's the best method though.

The old training saying was..

If symptoms are above the neck, ok, if they are below the neck, dont workout.

That sucks. I caught a cold on Christmas eve and it wouldn't let go until sometime last week. There must be some mega mutated cold virus going on here, it seems like everyone I'm talking to around here has had a cold that just refused to go away.

Well, and update on my sickness.. I went to my doctor today and she prescribed quite a few meds for me.

She also told me I couldnt go to work tonight so I had to call in and use a sick day. I hate doing that.

I have the early stages of bronchitis plus early(possibly) influenza starting. Chest congestion, tightness, not breathing well.

She prescribed the following..

Tamiflu
Cefaclor
Medrol (methylpredisolone)
Nebulizer (breathing machine) along with some Xopenex to put into it.

Lovely:rolleyes: I hope you feel better soon mate:wonder: That sucks to feel awful like that. To bad the mighty drug companies are making a nice profit off of you suffering though:rolleyes: And a freaking Nebulizer!!?!?! Holy crap! That sounds pretty serious:( And expensive.. I hope you're covered.

Have a nice nap and some chicken soup (not in that particular order). Go rest man. We got ya covered:thumbsup:

And stop thinking about all that muscle mass going down the drain:lol: J/K;)

Thanks salty. Insurance covered the majority of the cost thank goodness. They covered all but $25 of the nebulizer which is over $300!

Im gonna take it easy tonight, watch some tv, drink some gatorade all night.

You know me too salty, thats exactly what I told my doctor that my training was going so well, I was gaining weight, the lifts were up. She was like well, Im going to get you back at it as soon as possible.

And awhile ago I thought, this means more time away from the gym.:(:(

Gatorade is supposed to not be very good when you're sick due to the sugar content. You may want to double check it.

I have always drank it when Im sick to keep me hydrated. I also like to add those flavor mixes to bottled water. Raspberry ice and orange are my two favorite.

The temperature was up around 50 degrees here and we had some rain. Late in the evening, some storms came through and the temperature dropped to like 20 degrees. The wind has been blowing hard all night. Luckily we dont have snow on the ground.

I hate winter. Im so ready for spring.

Well here we are at 19th of April and it's snowing fluffy white kittens:huh: That just doesn't happen here on the coast:wonder:

It hailed some weird, soft, pea sized hail earlier, but no big deal. Now in the past hour it's accumulated about an inch of this crap!:banghead:

They are calling for up to 7 inches of this stuff over the next 2 days:eek: The odd lightning strike looks pretty cool though;)
Some areas already have nearly 4 inches.. So much for golf this weekend:rolleyes: It got up to 22C (72F) just 4 days ago!

It's 40C (103F) here in Nova Scotia today. It doesn't usually get this hot here, and very few people have air conditioning out here.

I refuse to complain about the heat in the summer because I prefer it to winter, it's dayum hawt!!!
