What do you consider a long drive? If you were to say, go out on the town, run an errand, commute to work, etc. what would you consider too far, or the limit?
Living in the 4th largest city in the US (#59 in the world even though Dallas/Ft Worth is TWO cities) it's nothing for me to drive 30-45min. here and there. I work 28min. from home, and to go to a buddies house take 15-20min easy. My brother is like 45min. away easy. I live at least an hour outside of the actual city (proper) of Houston. That urban sprawl is something. Houston extends from Galveston Island all the way to conroe which used to be out in the country and hour and a half north of the city. That's a good 2-3 hr. drive from north to south.
I used to know a girl from Rhode Island who would pack her stuff for overnight for a drive over 30min. Huge difference in perspective.
What about you guys?

Yeah, that sounds about right. But I work all over the district so a commute for me might be 5 minutes or an hour and a half. It depends. We're kinda spread out a bit here on the south Island. Certainly not the population density like you have.
I think I read somewhere that L.A. has more people in it than all of Canada. That's too many..
I've driven the 101. I couldn't do that everyday.

the site I found shows the actual city pop. vs. the urban sprawl population. LA has 3.84 million in the city and 17.75 million in the urban area of LA. Holy crap that's alot.

I guess that depends on what Im going to be driving too. Racing events or special appearances of Danica, I will drive any distance..:D
But something like work..I think anything over a 20 minute drive is pushing it. 30 minutes max commute.

Ok, ok, I mean more like a regular event. Not special occasions. I've driven the 3hr. Ft. Polk to Houston a few million times, and drove 10hrs. to Tennessee once.

I drove 11 hours to New Jersey to see the StuckeyBowl where my favorite tv show of all time was filmed.

Depending on what it is I would say an hour and a half (1.5) is about it. If I'm going out, I like to stay within that 30 min. range unless it's a friends place and I'll be there a good while.

For everyday driving I'd say everything over 1 hour would be considered a long drive.
During the summers when I visit my family who live a bit down south in Sweden I usually drive for 10-12 hours. I'm not comfortable with driving any longer than that without sleeping. And when there's about an hour left of driving you're really really fed up with it.
Some years ago I lived in a small town and had 1,5 hours to the nearest bigger city. That was a complete pain to spend 3 hours in the car everytime you wanted to do something like shopping etc. In the long run it really meant you stayed at home much more than you wanted to.
