GM has announced that their OnStar technology will get a new toy for 2009. "Slow down technology" This is said to help stop high speed chases. If a vehicle is stolen and happens to have the onstar system, the police in conjunction with an OnStat operator can reduce the power from the engine thus slowing the vehicle to an eventual stop. The vid shows how it works.

Hehe, that's really slick. Maybe in two years time all vehicles will have this type of technology. As I understand the vehicle slow down is initiated by OnStar. The easiest way for a thief to circumvent that would be to have some kind of signal jammer. I hope OnStar thought of that

There's no shortage of car thieves around here, they have a really slick 'bait-car' program in place. You can watch vid's of the morons getting busted:lol: STOOPID!

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but around here, I'm not so sure the theives are that sophistocated as to have signal jammers. If they did they'd probably take them apart to try and sell the copper and gold conductors so they can buy their meth:rolleyes:

This guy became awfully infamous on the news. Meth heads suck:mad: Caution: Language

And how long will it take until the OnStar system gets hacked and all new fancy cars just stop when going down the freeway? :)

Haha , good point DriverDB. That will be the next conspiracy. I can see the headlines now "OnStar Servers Go Nuts, All Cars Stop on the Road!"
