It's going to be very interesting last race of the season when 3 drivers have a change to win the title. Bridgestone is going to support the teams with soft and supersoft tyre compounds, which have been better for McLaren than Ferrari. Also the Interlagos track has got a new surface so the grip situation will be new for everyone. I'll not be surprised if we see very aggressive driving by Massa, Kimi and Alonso because they have nothing to lose. I won't even be surprised if Alonso and Hamilton collide. Fernando might think that 'If I'm not going to win, neither are you!'

Here is how the title is going to be settled:

Hamilton wins the title...

- If He wins or finishes second.
- If he is 3rd, 4th or 5th and Alonso doesn't win.
- He is 6th or 7th, Alonso is at most 3rd and Kimi doesn't win.
- If he is 8th, Alonso is at most 4th and Kimi 3rd.
- If he doesn't score points, then Alonso could be at most 5th and Kimi 3rd.

Alonso wins the title...

- If he wins and Hamilton is at most 3rd.
- If he is 2nd and Hamilton at most 6th.
- If he is 3rd, Hamilton is at most 8th and Kimi doesn't win.
- If he is 4th, Hamilton is out of points and Kimi is at most 3rd.

Kimi wins the title...

- If he wins, Hamilton is at most 6th and Alonso at most 3rd.
- If he is 2nd, Hamilton is at most 8th and Alonso at most 4th.

Thanks for that Harikimi. That's the kind of 'print-off-and-keep' guide I need to keep near me.

WHOOOPS!

I've had the joy of working with line paint before, it's not like you can just dab it up with some rags:rolleyes:. And that's a few gallons worth splattered all over:lol:

If they want to get rid of that, they're going to have to plane off some of the surface and re-cover it:wonder:

There in lies the problem. The paint is oil based and a pressure washer is water based:lol: The two don't go well together. They could have gotten a lot of it off with the PW, but there would be evironmental impact, blah, blah. And line paint dries pretty fast. It would be easier to just skim it with fresh black top I would think.

That's my professional opinion:lol::drunk:

I'm getting all giddy about this race already. It comes on at 11am my local time so I'll get to get up and watch it live. I cancelled a football (american) game to watch the race. The Texans kinda suck anyway. I keep running scenarios though my head. I think Kimi is going to be on it though. I think Alonso's exp. is going to count for alot as Hamilton may fold under the presssure. I don't see Massa doing his job either. Kimi NEEDS Massa to come in p2 and I hope to hell that it goes that way. That said I don't know if Hamilton will be smart enough to relax and not put himself out if he's behind Kimi.

I was wondering who is going to crash out (maybe with help) :wonder:. I'd almost expect a conspiracy where one of the Torro Rosso's takes out one of the McLarens on Kimi's behalf. Maybe Alonso brake checks Hamilton causing Hamilton to have to pit out of sequence.

Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!! I can't take it. :drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk::drunk:

Raikkonen topped the charts of a wet 1st practice at Interlagos.

Hamilton was 5th and Alonso chose not to set a time on the wet track.

..and neither did BMW drivers and Fisichella. Now 2nd practice session started in little bit dryer conditions, guys going on track with soft slicks. They have done pretty good job with the surface of the track, it looks much more smoother than in previous years, cars are not bouncing anymore. I remember a race when Arrows? and maybe some other teams lost a rear wing on the main straight because all the vibration cars were suffering. This was maybe in practice because atleast Mika Salo's team back then didn't even start the race because of the safety issues, Ryan help me out in here. ;)

Teams found out that the super-soft compound is about 0.4 sec faster in Brazil than the soft compound. This is the first time in the season when tyres are this far from eachother. Super-softs also grain alot so they need to be watch out for more. I think out of the top 3 drivers Kimi is the best one to look out of his tyres, then Alonso. Not sure of Hamilton but atleast in China he wore his tyres much quicker than the other two mentioned before. And I don't mean just the accident where he got to, but there could be seen a huge difference already in their first pitstops.

Nico Rosberg's Williams and the two BMW's are under investigation by the stewards for fuel irregularities.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63547

If they are excluded and the championship "handed" to Hamilton, I'm done with F1.

From F1 Live:

AFP France are reporting this evening that both William Toyota and BMW Sauber are under investigation by the FIA following the Brazilian Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg finished a superb fourth today at Interlagos, chased across the line by Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld.

Details are not clear at the moment, but it seems there is a question mark over the fuel used in the 71-lap season finale and that has massive ramifications in terms of the outcome of the 2007 drivers' championship.

All we know at this early stage is that representatives have been called to face the Stewards from both Williams and BMW.

Raikkonen took the chequered flag this afternoon with rivals Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton third and seventh respectively. The result was that Raikkonen won the title by one point from the McLaren Mercedes duo.

Should there be any significant penalty applied to Rosberg, Kubica or 2Haiedfeld, Hamilton could be promoted from seventh position. A fifth place in the classification would give him the championship in what would be a very cruel and controversial manner.

Well, it was a great race. Everybody celebrated and now this crap

It's hard to believe that once they suspect irregularities in fuel that they turn out wrong. I'm really worried about Kimi's title. You know this stuff should have happened before the chequered flag. If they take the title away from him now, he will be devestated :(

:eek::(:mad:

Article 6.5.5 of the Formula One technical regulations states: "No fuel on board the car may be more than ten degrees centigrade below ambient temperature."

The statement issued by Bauer showed that Heidfeld's fuel was 13 degrees centigrade lower than ambient at his first stop and 12 degrees centigrade lower at his second stop.

Robert Kubica's fuel varied by 14 degrees, 13 degrees and 13 degrees at his three stops; Nico Rosberg's fuel was 13 degrees and 12 degrees out at his two stops and Kazuki Nakajima's was 12 degrees out at his first stop. His second stop was inside the 10-degree limit.

Spyker technical chief Mike Gascoyne said he believed the variation would have provided a performance advantage.

"It can be five to ten horsepower easily," he told autosport.com. "The car is producing a performance advantage during the race. If they dump fuel in that is below the limit, it is an illegal performance advantage. They should be excluded from the event, there is absolutely no doubt."

JoStream

I highly doubt that they would do something like that intentionally. They are fully aware that the FIA takes fuel probes. It's like robbing a bank in front of the national guard

In 1995 Schumacher and Coulthard were DQ'd from the Brazilian GP for fuel regularities, then reinstated with the loss of constructor points only.

But in 1997 Hakkinen was DQ'd from the Belgian for fuel irregularities (I really wish the FIA would be specific about these things) and not reinstated (he was racing under appeal).

But if they gained a performance advantage and finished higher they probably would have... *cough*rosberg*cough*

To me it generally seems that the constructor points dealy is only done when the team does something against the rules but the cars performance is not improved via the breaking of the rules.

I remember in Austria 2001 Mika Hakkinen was DQ'd because the FIA approval seal was broken on his electronics box, but it was shown that nothing had been changed. Hakkinen was reinstated but McLaren lost the 10 points.

But in situations where the performance is improved via rules infraction, even if through no fault of the driver, he is excluded. See BAR in 2005. And unfortunate as it may be that probably is the right call.

Man I took a nap after the race, I get up and SPEED is on going blah blah blah Kimi might lose the title.....whaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

I hate this crap. It seems like you can't go a single race where everything falls out as it should....ON THE TRACK.

Good choice. I hope you liked it. We haven't had a three-way title showdown in over twenty years, so you are one of the lucky ones who watched this historic race ;)

They said that on "The Speed Report" too on SPEED. I'm waiting for it on F1.com though.

It was open-wheel racing which is good. I just had a few questions so I posted them in a new thread. Im sure someone can answer them.

I also watched the Nascar race today, and unhappy that Johnson won.:(

Yup, a German source quotes information from the stewards that Kimi's title is official and that the investigation into the fuel probes taken will remain without consequences :D :drunk:

Hopefully you get to watch some more next season. The more you know about it the more you can "get into it". I'm trying to get more into IRL and Champ car too so you're not the only one here.

YEA! Now THAT is the kind of attitude people like to see :drunk::drunk: . I'm gonna go get some sleep. It's been a hectic, but fantastic day in motorsports.

I think most of us feel the same way about Kimi winning the title. He deserves it and to make up a 17 point gap in two races is a task that requires a lot of patience and focus

Just announced on "Wind Tunnnel" "The FIA has just announced that there will be no penalty for the 2 cars due to some discrepancies in what the actual ambient temp was and if the readings on the fuel were accurate."

This means that Kimi is in the clear!!! :D:finishfirst:

Sounds good. So, when does the F1 season start and how long of a season is it? How many races do they run ?

Usually 17 (ish) races, I think they start in May. Not 100% on that.

I'm starting to see many more sources confirming that there will be no penalty for fuel irregularities. Pitpass, GPupdate, iTV and Speed have all "confirmed" it.

Now I finally see it on F1.com

In other news..Ron Dennis gets a constructor trophy after all.

And of course McLaren is appealing. They have every right to do so but it still sux.

I'm a McLaren fan, but after all the Spying controversy, i do think it's from a big bad taste, and with no moral at all, to Mr. Ron Dennis to appeal, even if legally, he has the right to do so.

Well done for Kimi. It's just a shame that he didn't do it in a silver suit

Just a season to forget at all levels, so time to move on and think about 2008.

Wow, what i nice race it was, simply fantastic.... i couldnt see wet why hamilton was on 7 in the begining of the race, Alonso putted him out or it was his mistake???

i'd like to see Alonso champion, but Kimi is okay, he did a race in Schumacher style

i'll upload a few photos and videos later, i'll put them on the rapidshare

Congrats to you Kimi :finishfirst:

great final race. well done for kimi, masa and ferrari. They would of never made it without massa though!

Well done :)

Yes, that its something very important to be remebered, i just hope as a brazilian that Massa dont become another Barrichello inside the Ferrari team

Hamilton came third into the first corner and had Räikkönen right in front. Kimi then seemed to brake a bit in the middle of the Senna S's and Hamilton had to brake to avoid hitting him. That enabled Alonso to come up alongside Lewis. Lewis was then on the outside into the next corner and lost grip and had to take a stroll off the track losing several positions in the process. There was no contact made so Lewis has only himself to blame for that one.

Seems to me all Hamilton had to do was slide in behind Alonzo after the start and cruise home to the title in 4th place. To me this was the most bonehead move I have seen in F1, and that is saying a lot....

Hamilton may say he's young and will get the title later, but there are many talented F1 drivers who have only one chance at the title and his was there for the taking in China and Brazil.

Great drive Kimi, fully deserving of the title, especially given the espionage by McLaren

well that's it all over for another year :cry:and what a year its been
Hamilton really messed up big time:mad:
should have just kept his head down and stayed with the pack:)
there was no "heroics" needed:stop:
glad Kimmi won and as another McLaren fan i was sad it wasn't him in the silver suit :(
all this appeal stuff is just clutching at staws:confused:
and really don't think it would be right for Lewis to win that way :wonder:
the best F1 season in ages :D
can't wait for it all to start again next year:D

This is my worry, also. Yesterday was an uncomfortable reminder of the Ferrari dominant Schumacher days with poor old Rubens dedicating his own career to Michael's championships.

I'm a Hamilton fan but I also like Massa - I'd love to see him do well either with Ferrari or elsewhere.

Now Hamilton is saying he doesn't want to win on appeal. This may play heavily on the decision of the appeal. There is also speculation that Hamilton hit the start button and that caused the software to glitch thus causing his slow down. I hope this come to a close soon. Hamilton even said that all this bs is bad for the sport. (not his words exactly)

I really respect him for saying that. It's of course good PR. Hamilton knows that he would lose a lot of his fans and that the racing world would disapprove of a title won in that fashion

Aah... he did a Mansell?

In the Canadian Grand Prix in 1991 Nigel Mansell was in the lead on the last lap and was already waving to the crowd when the car just stopped. Mansell blamed the gear box. But rumours from the team said that he had flipped the ignition-switch to off somewhere in all that waving.

congrats to kimi & ferrari on a well deserved title. no one out there deserved it more than kimi.

when lewis screwed up with the steering wheel and found himself in 18th position i thought, that he could make a drive like that of schumi's last year, but it wasn't to be. Also lewis onlt has himself to blame, for letting the title slip through his hands in the last 2 races. Had he maintained 4th after the start he would have won.

I dont understand the appeal situation, do they want to take the pionts from the drivers or the teams ?
it ought to be the teams, otherwise mclarens drivers should have had their point taken away too

Kimi did something that only other two driver had done with Ferrari.
He won the world title in his first year with a Ferrari, that is something that only Fangio in 56, Jody Scheckter in 79 had done.
