Would that series be considered a step down in comparison to the IRL? :wonder:

I'm sure it's for fun more than anything.

Yeah, it's just a guest drive. I'm guessing it has something to do with engines. :D

Of course it is, everything except maybe NASCAR is a step down from the IRL...;):D

I have to rate NASCAR below dirt track.

F1
IRL (maybe)
Champ / GP2
A1GP
(other)

as far as open wheel goes.

Hehe , or if you move up an entire league instead of just switching series :p

No but seriously, Kanaan, like any racer likes time behind the wheel and this is a chance for him to get some more time and do something a little different.

IRL is still the best though..;)

Tony Kanaan finished sixth in his guest appearance during the 2007 season finale in Formula Nippon. He was a bit off pace though as his fastest lap of the race only was 17th fastest. But a good performance nevertheless considering the limited seat time.

Series veteran Satoshi Motoyama took the win (his 27th career Nippon win!) ahead of German André Lotterer and Brazilian João Paulo de Oliveira. Championship leader Benoit Treluyer retired after 32 laps and this meant he lost the championship by one point to Tsugio Matsuda who finished 4th in the final.

Race top ten:
1. Motoyama, Japan
2. Lotterer, Germany +0.504
3. de Oliveira, Brazil +59.182
4. Matsuda, Japan +59.267
5. Ara, Japan +1:03.241
6. Kanaan, Brazil +1:07.772
7. Kataoka, Japan +1:24.111
8. Takagi, Japan +1:24.894
9. Wirdheim, Sweden + 1 lap
10. Ide, Japan + 1 lap
