What do you think? Who should be the another McLaren driver at 2008?

It looks like Heikki will be out at Renault and I think he drove very well for them. McLaren would be foolish to let his talent go to waste. He's every bit as good as Rosberg without the issues of getting him away from Williams.

As a Finn, I'm not completely neutral at the subject but yeah, I'd say Kovalainen also. I think he is the "best" option available.

I fully agree with you there. Heikki's racing style and approach has matured a lot over the course of the season. In the last third of the season he consistently out-qualified his team mate and brought home valuable points for the team. He speaks better English than Mika and Kimi, so that will help the PR department

As much as I'd like to say de la Rosa, I think after some discussion on it in other threads, he may be past his prime. I think Kovi is on his way up and will give McLaren a young team with alot of room to mold into whatever the team wants. Nico just seems to fit with the Williams for some reason. Ralf would just be a waste. He's done in F1 unless he buys into a team and stays in the garage (team co-ownership).

Well, that depends on what Mclaren have in mind.
If they hire Heikki or Sutil they want a really good and fast driver to be on the team, but this could represent a threat for Lewis to be the number 1 on the team, so if they want Lewis as first driver such Ferrari did with Michael they should hire a driver like Ralf or Fisico, but if that its the case i think they are going to be with De la rosa, he is Spanish, Mclaren have Spanish sponsors, he already knows how the cars and the Mclaren team works, its a very cheap option and dont represent a threat to Lewis.
But i hope they hire Kovalainen :) and then Nelsinho could be in Reanult and Di Grassi as a test driver on the team

But I think he really doesn't want to leave Williams. He probably sees some momentum there, and if there is no considerable improvement in performance next season, he will start looking elsewhere.

I would be moving now. They said years ago with Webber they were going back to the front and that hasnt happened yet

Well he is still under contract, and if he breaks it, nobody will be comfortable to hire him again :wonder:

i think that ralph would fit properly in the team, especially as a # 2 driver, plus he has loads of experience. and for sure he will help the team with the constructors title. on the other hand kovalinen will present them silmilar issues as alonso, however it will take him a while to adapt, so the second season for sure he will have problems with hamilton, and eventually they are going to cause themselves yet more public embaressments.
