lol heres some pics
V8 Supercars / Turbo Era / Big Bangers / Showroom Cars
Bit of info on the cars:
V8s-In January 1993 CAMS replaced the existing Group 3A Touring Car category (which had been based on FIA Group A rules) with a new two class Group 3A. This encompassed both 5.0 Litre Touring Cars (Australian Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore V8 models) and 2.0 Litre FIA Class II Touring Cars. The category was renamed 'V8 Supercars' in 1997 when`management company IMG was given the rights to the series in 1997 after a bitter battle against CAMS and the ARDC.
Turbo Era- The Turbo Era had cars such as the Ford Sierra and R32 Skyline. Coming to the end of it nearly all the cars were Sierras. There was Brocks commodore, Richards BMW and Johnsons Mustang then after that most of the field were turbo. The catagory finished after the 1992 season when the V8s and 2litres were introduced.
The Big Bangers- The Big bangers was the wildest time in touring cars. Big tires, Big engines, everything was big. These are very good to watch. They are very loud and although very heavy get thrown around alot. This era called Group C (nick named big bangers) ran from 1973-1984. The reason it was stoped was due to bigger teams having over technical regulations which was loosing touch with the original intent of the class.
Showroom era- As it says cars straight off the showroom floor. Mainly only seen at phillip island and bathurst, these cars were still fast. With cars like the GTHO and Monaro which reached high speeds down conrod straight.

That big banger looks like old Opel (or vauxhall/holden:rolleyes:) Ascona from the early 80's. They were very popular tuning prospects some time ago :D
