The front end looks different. They also have made changes in wheelbase, side pods, front suspension etc etc. So it's a whole new car compared to last year. Here is a pic of F2007.

It's all in the details. The untrained eye may not help. The nose is definatley the most noticeable.

Ok, we're starting to get multiple threads on the F2008. Let's merge them and stay in ONE THREAD. Thanks. I think the 2008 Car launch thread is big enough to hold these.

What are your guys' take on this quote I saw on another site ? They were also saying that Kimi will be the #1 driver for Ferrari.
Piero Lardi Ferrari says the Italian team's new car, the F2008, will be better suited to Kimi Raikkonen than was its predecessor.
Despite winning the 2007 world championship at the Interlagos season finale last October, Raikkonen, the 28-year-old Finn, struggled for much of the season following his switch from McLaren.
"He will have a car (this year) that better suits his driving style," Ferrari, the only living son of the Maranello based team's founder Enzo Ferrari, is quoted as saying by the Electric New Paper.
Ferrari, also a 10 per cent owner of the famous marque, added: "That was the problem at one time last year: his style did not suit the F2007 and vice versa."

Nothing new. Kimi was the #1 driver last year and will be until he leaves. I think the reference may have been about the #1 on the car since he won the title giving him and Ferrari the right to the #1 and #2 for the car. (In F1 teams don't keep the same # on the car unless they finish in the same position at the end of the season. It also effects where you are in the pits.)

Kimi likes his rides to oversteer quite much, new Ferrari is designed towards that and this is why they say that the new car will suite Kimi better. Team Principal Stefano Domenicali has recently stated that there will be no number 1 driver in the team, even Kimi is now champion. But it's a well known secret that at some point of the season, all the teams in title fight will favour the driver with most points. And also Kimi is much higher ranked driver than Massa. So basically yes, like EIR said, he is no. 1. ;)

Kimi is on fire! The time he setted at Bahrain tests is over 2 seconds faster than 2007 time for POLE, and over 4 seconds quicker than fastest lap in the race, and all this without TC. I've never seen him boasting his rides like this before so I'm confident that it really is fast!
Toyota was 1.7 seconds slower than Ferrari on that day, it's amazing how the teams are able to go faster every year...

The interesting thing is that within the next 10 days, Ferrari will be testing new boards, an opening in the front wing and some other aero improvisations that are supposed to make the car go even faster. But the car was so quick in the past few days, that Baldisserri wasn't even sure these changes would make the car better than it already is

Translated Q&A with Raikkonen:
Q: How do you feel about the simulation ?
Raikkonen: ''Interesting. We haven't encountered a single technical problem, the car worked perfectly, as in all of the first three days. I can't indicate any problem. We're all satisfied.''
Q: Not just for the improvement over one lap, also over a stint.
Raikkonen: ''Yes, we're very consistant. Driving a car like this F2008 is fantastic. It's already very fast. But the interesting thing is that I've noticed this speed both in race and in the more extreme qualifying conditions. In both situations the car is always very gentle on the tyres, it doesn't ruin them. It's because the power is very equally put on the road, the engine handling is perfect (Ferrari brought new engine management solutions to Bahrain - AFCA). In other words the (whole) package works in great harmony. I'm certain that the next three days of testing cannot but confirm this.''
Q: What did you think when the mechanics put out the word 'Winner' on the pitbord ?
Raikkonen: ''My car was the only one in the race. It was mostly a joke from the pitbox. What has struck me most though, is how these first three days went on the whole, the continuous improvement, all that my engineers and I have learned about the F2008.''
Q: You've been setting times faster than the pole time from last year.
Raikkonen: ''I've kept going faster and I know I can still easily improve quite a bit. Because the car is great but also because the team has planned everything precisely, also the (introduction of the) improvements. And I'm most happy about the fact we exactly know where we are and we don't simply improve by chance.''
Q: Today no-one seems faster than the Ferrari...
Raikkonen: ''Well, I don't know about that. We will only see at the first Grand Prix.''
----------
On the race simulation: ''I need time to better analyse the data. Really though, the result from Tuesday was excellent and not just in terms of reliability.''
TS has also reported that Ferrari think Kimi is even faster without TC, because he has more freedom to utilize his own reflexes.

Jarno Trulli has stated that Ferrari has adapted much better to the new regulations than all other teams and that they will dominate the upcoming season.

i think that it is too early to forcast what will happen and who will win. Ferrari might have the upper hand in the pre season testing, but no one knows what will happen when the actual season starts.
Plus we dont know if mclaren actually got rid of all the ferrari documents or not;).

Maybe they are bidding for Ferrari drivers to retire often and throw their steering wheels around. :p Anyways former F1 driver Mika Salo thinks that Kimi will go with ease to be a champion at 2008. He said that if Ferrari is this fast at this point of the year, they will shine in the incoming GP's

I think that the ferraries will be the team to beat this season and i think the test results show that. Also despite mclaren finishing last in last season’s championship, it appears that McLaren will not occupy the last pit garages during the 2008 season.

Not much translation needed there. A great animation, and a really creative solution. How much quicker the Ferrari can go will become clearer in Barcelona. But I have a feeling this innovation will have a significant impact on car stability and general aerodynamic efficiency
