Luca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari has said on La Stampa magazine that Michael Schumacher is Ferrari's 3rd driver. Team hasn't yet specified that will Schumi also be their spare driver for the weekends or is he only going to do testing.

I would not read too much into that. It's just a way of saying that Shuey will continue to play an important role, as both a consultant and adviser, within the Ferrari team.

I don't see him taking over for Marc Gene :wonder:

does this mean that if one of their main drivers have whatever issues and cant race. MS will race instead:).

honestly i dont think so, however that would be great.

That is what this news is speculating, nothing official has been stated yet. :)

I think it means if Schuey wants to take the car out for a run at a test, he's allowed to.

I still can't believe that he turned down the team principal position.

I still can't believe why he was offered this position in the first place. On what basis may I ask?:confused:

I beg to differ. He is not going to make a comeback, at least in F1, and I think that he could not have made a better decision. We have seen a lot of athletes miss the perfect time to step down. Andre Agassi anyone?

I wouldn't mind seeing how he goes in a car without driver aids but I don't see him making a comeback.

The drivers aids were only in place for a few season, you'll just have to look back to his battles with Hakkinen!

I think it bodes well for Ferrari to have Schumi on board. What a lethal combination, Kimi and Michael developing and testing the same car!!

I don't think Montezemolo had anything to do with it. Michael had been racing since 1991. That's a very long time! He should have stepped back in 2004 after his last title though.
