BMW launched their new car today at Munich. Notable changes have made, It's way more different compared to 07 than it looks like at first sight. Front wing is new, also the engine cover is different, but LOOK at those sidepods! They have implemented a huge winglet and behind that the sidepod is like 10cm low! I didn't find any more pictures now but I have to say that it looks wild.

Theissen stated at the show that Marko Asmer will test for the team this week, but no decision regarding the third driver will be made before the end of the month.

They're also using the wheel covers, Ferrari must have been onto something!

Interesting looking cars. They actually look quite a bit different than an indycar if you really look at them.

Yeah they do. Indy cars are designed to go straight forwards as fast as they can (like all american sportcars hehee:rolleyes:), while F1 cars are designed to do corners fast. So they are much smaller and lighter. You should compare F1 to champ cars and see what's the difference when it comes to aerodynamics, it's huge! :)

I think BMW has the best looking design out of these 08 rides presented so far, while Ferrari is the ugliest (hopefully fastest too:D).

I totally agree with you on the esthetics. It actually looks more like a car than something out of a Giger nightmare:eek:

Kimi and the Ferrari are an unbelievable match, and most certainly exciting to watch, but I'll be not-so-secretly rooting for the BMW's, hoping they can make a nice dent at least:thumbsup:

I'm hoping BMW can make the step up to a race win this year. And I hope Quick Nick could be the one to take that win. F1 needs a new winning team and Nick needs the confidence boost. :)

Hopefully they're not the new Honda who for some reason decided to make the slowest car ever when things finally were looking really promising. (but it did have the entire weight of the world on its shoulders as ballast)

BMW is already testing new aerodynamics at Jerez. This winglet looks rather interesting.

yes, but the wind and the rain didnt let the team test the aerodynamics

It would be nice if BMW and Renault are competitive...

it would be a 4 way fight for the title..

Heidfeld is with a new helmet too...

I dont know but Helmet for me is something that you dont change every time, for me the Helmet is part of the driver identity.

When you remember Senna for example you remeber the yellow helmet....

Schummy the red one....

I dont know why a lot of driver are changing there helmets

I don't know, but the more wings, usually means there is something fundamentally wrong, plus they'll create drag

Im kind of in agreement here. I noticed the car has a lot of wings, fins, and protrusions on it. Why so many ? Is this an advantage ?

They all have new aero rules this year and no tc so they are trying to reconfigure the aero packages.

What is suprising in these cars, at least indycars for sure, is how light the wings and nose are.

Ive held Danica's car's wings and nose down in her garage and its very light. I guess thats the reason for using carbon fiber. Its very strong but light.
