It's January, it's -10C, there's 3 feet of snow outside.

Please don't remind me of things that happen in May.:)

(It should be a good race this year, the IRL race I look forward too)

But the thought helps me get thru these long winter blues.:(

This schedule just came out so I was excited. I put in for my vacation days for May already.

Im going to be busy in that month down there. I will post pictures.

It appears now that Stephan Gregoire will be doing the Indy 500 this year. I believe that HighCo as of now will be his major sponsor. They are a European marketing solutions group.

This spring there are different and interesting events. As I’m a NASCAR sport fan, I always feel entertained while watching races. Like Indianapolis event, that will take place in the end of May, is one of the hot NASCAR events and it is the greatest spectacle in racing. The race is highly attended this is what pushes ticket prices to be so high. I come to discover a site where to compare ticket prices before booking. At least this way one could look for the lowest prices.
No Links Please. Thanks

Anyway, I hope I want miss my chance to attend because I’m witting impatiently.

Emerson Fittapaldi will be driving it.

Wow great news :D is always good to see Emerson, what a great driver he was, but that also means that this year there is no chance of something like in this video happens

PS: I remeber of Morgan Freeman and Lance Armstrong also driving a pace car or am i wrong?

No, you are right. Morgan Freeman drove the pace car in 2004 and Lance Armstrong drove it in 2006. Patrick Dempsey drove it last year.

A couple more pieces of information in reference to this year's Indy 500...

Rahal Letterman Racing and Target Chip Ganassi Racing will be working together to field a car for Alex Lloyd to run in this year's Indy 500. He will be working out of the Rahal Letterman Garage but the Target Chip Ganassi Team will be working very close with them to make sure he is getting the engineering and expertise of both teams.
His car number will be #16.

And Eddie Cheever, former winner of the Indy 500 (1998) will join Marty Reid and Scott Goodyear in the ESPN / ABC booth this year to help announce the 500.

Still no Wade Cunningham. what does that guy have to do to get a drive in the main series? he wins the Indy Pro championship in his rookie year. his second year he nearly wins the championship despite missing several rounds to have his appendix out and then he finishes 3rd in his 3rd year. this year he decided to focus on trying to land a drive at Indy and looking at the entry list he hasn't managed yet.

I guess he just needs to have a sex change. lets be honest Duno is not in there for her driving ability on ovals is she? and she got a drive straight away without going through the Indy Pro Series

DanicaRules
16th Apr 2008, 12:10 PM
Yeah, Duno is one driver I will never understand how she gets a ride. She is downright horrible on the track. I have said this from the beginning. She is too slow and a danger to the other drivers. She needs to go elsewhere.

I know some will say its her markability. I dont see that either. She never comes close to winning, doesnt run a good race, she is ugly, and its not her fault but she cant speak English well. So all this doesnt add up with me.

But speaking of other drivers in the Indy 500. I know Alex Lloyd will be running but he also needs a full time ride, as well as Paul Tracy.

I can't wait.

I will be ther 9-11th, and for race weekend.

I also am looking forward to no Duno, no Roth, and hopefully, a strongly contested fun race.

This is the time when I expect the former CCWS teams to start to get it. They will be better at qualifying, they will be better at racing, and I wouldn't be completely surprised if one of those team made a podium.

This is when I expect it to finally start to look like one series. Can't wait. Next weekend will be a blast.

Thought i would chuck my top 3 out there.

1. Dixon
2. Wheldon
3. Kanaan

The Ganassi guys have started this season flying and i think it is time for Dixon to have the perfect fuel strategy after the disasters at Twin Ring and Kansas.

I am of the belief that you live in or near Indianapolis, if this is not true, disregard my question.

I was looking at the weather for next weekend and it appears, on the sites I visited, that it currently looks like rain this Saturday and Sunday? Friday looks good however. Have you seen anything different? Is there a local TV station that tends to get it right more than the others?

If so, please post a linc so I can keep up. I don't want to go, and have the qualifying be rained out both days.

Yes, I live close to Indianapolis. I usually watch fox59 news out of Indianapolis. The site is fox59.com.They usually get it right on. I dont pay much attention to weather more than a day or 2 because it seems like it always changes.

Today was Rookie day.

N/H/L did well, as did the RLR/Ganasi's Alex Lloyd, and AGR's Muthoh.

I think that these 4 plus RLR's Hunter-Reay have a legitimate chance of setting their postion on pole-day next Saturday, assuming there is no rain. IF I am not mistaken that would put them in the top 11

Well, I just got back from the track. Rain ended the practice early today but the cars did manage to get some track time.

Alex Lloyd and Mario Dominguez had some crashes today. Mario had a minor one in the wall exiting out of pit lane. Alex wasnt as fortunate. He had major damage hitting an outside wall but he is ok.

And I was there for this one, Danica was coming into her pit box and the crew chief of Dale Coyne Racing stepped out and she struck him. He was knocked out, has a concussion and was taken to the hospital. He will be ok but it was a scary moment.

Well Im back from another day at the track. What a gorgeous day! Weather was great. It was an exciting day. I got to hang out with Danica in her pit box after the 2nd round of practice sets & qualifications. We were watching the speeds on the computers and she was telling me what was going on. I got to give her another nice, big hug for a day well done. She had the pole for awhile. She will start in row 2, position 5. Not bad!
Good Job Danica!!

Again, today they only qualified the first 11 positions. Tomorrow will be 12-22 if it doesnt rain. Then on Saturday will be 23-33. If it does rain, they will combine both qualifications on Saturday.

Scott Dixon wins the pole. Good job Scott. The Target Chip Ganassi team was strong today, with Dan Wheldon taking 2nd as well. Kudos to Ryan Briscoe in the front row.

Here is the first 11 with thier speed....

1. #9 Scott Dixon - 226.366
2. #10 Dan Wheldon - 226.110
3. #6 Ryan Briscoe -226.080
4. #3 Helio Castroneves - 225.733
5. #7 Danica Patrick - 225.197
6. #11 Tony Kanaan -224.794
7. #26 Marco Andretti - 224.417
8. #4 Vitor Meira - 224.346
9. #27 Hideki Mutoh - 223.887
10. #20 Ed Carpenter - 223.835
11. #12 Tomas Scheckter - 223.496

Well, we have a new entry for the Indy 500 this year. Jeff Simmons makes another return with AJ Foyt Racing.

A.J. Foyt Racing announced that it has hired Simmons to drive the No. 41 ABC Supply car for this year's race. His teammate is Darren Manning. Interesting.

Sorry I haven't gotten a chance to say anything since my trip to the brickyard.

First of all it is great to be in that setting, with those fans, who really care about the sport. What a blast.:drunk:

The weather was cold, and too rainy. I was not happy about this, especially the rain, but that is just unpreidictable midwest weather in the spring.

On some of the topics that have been posted:

There is no way the pit incident had anything to do with Danica, (and if someone was going to blame her it would be me). I have no idea why that guy was just wondering about there.

The Alex Lloyd and Ryan Hunter-Reay crashes were awful. The others were fine. The spinout that AJ IV had was predicted by the guy sitting in front ofme at that track. Apparently the Foyt's have had their triumphs and troubles at Indy.

TcGanassi on 1&2 was a surprise. It seemes like all week that AGR had the fastest cars, but they were behind Penske, and Ganassi when it came to qualifying.

I was happy to see Schekter and Miera get in to the 11. Carpenter is a tool, but was the likely next best canidate.

My favorite Graham Rahal was just short of making it into the top 11, and I wish that NHL had given him one more chance at it once Schekter lowered his time for him, but I guess that is how things go:mad:. They were probably affraid of Graham pushing to hard and wrecking the car:devil:.

Some people that puzzled me why they didn't go for the qualification were Buddy Rice, and Sarah Fisher. Both of them seemed to have the speed to get in the top 11 (potentially), but neither made an attempt.

KV cars looked respectable, along with J Wilson, and EJ Viso of the former Champ Car Teams. (Of course, as I said, Graham represented himself well).

Jeff Simmons getting another shot is probably a good idea. I am affraid he is a wreck waiting to happen, but he does have some good experience.

I am disappointed I still haven't heard from Paul Tracy yet.:banghead:

Finally I am also of the understanding that John Andretti is racing the Jay Howard car, so please post a linc if that is not true.

Another rumor coming out of Indy is that Paul Tracy is speaking with Penske. Im thinking if this is going to happen, it better be quick, they are running out of time before the 500, not to mention days to practice, especially due to all the rain.

I will be back down there this weekend, starting on Thursday and it looks like chances of rain about every day.

I just saw Danica's pitlane accident and to me it was not her fault at all. This guy shouldn't be there and should have been awake in the first place. She came in so fast that it was too late to react if she was able to spot the guy before the impact.

It definitely was not her fault. She came in just fine, not too high or fast. That guy was talking to some of Marco Andretti's crew so he had no business being where he was. He should of been on the other side of the wall for one thing and in Marco's pit box.

My heart says Graham can get on the podium. My head says:

Wheldon
Andretti
Dixon

I also predict

2 AGR Cars will not finish (mutoh and patrick is my instinct)
S. Fisher will be the top Female finisher
Duno will Crash --(she still sucks)
Roth will Crash--(He should have had Jay Howard Drive his ride)
Atleast 5 former CC Teams will be crashed out
(there will be a lot of yellows)

I just have a feeling that the Penske cars will not be a factor in the race at the end, not necessarily because they are out of the race, but more because something happens to get them lapped. I really have no faith in Briscoe, and I don't believe in Helio, (even though he has raced well this year)

AJ IV will finish the race despite his awful month.

The final prediction:

I will have a great time at the race!!!

If Danica wins this race, I will again wonder about conspiracy, especially if if looks like a fluke. I hope she doesn't, but if she does, I hope she clearly earns the win. The car did look strong, but I believe that Marco is the best AGR possibiliy. Kanaan would be second, but I could see him exiting too, (he hasn't seemed happy with his car all month, which could lead to over-driving the car).

ABC/ESPN (if not the IRL itself) is rooting for Danica/Andretti/Helio/Rahal/Foyt to win. They want a name that America is familiar with to carry the series, hopefully keeping viewers for Milwaukee.

I personally believe that there are many great possibilities, and great drivers. I believe the series can sell itself if people watch.

Helio could do really well, and Penske certainly has had success at Indianapolis, but I just have a bad feeling that has no basis in logic, or something I have seen. I just kind of feel like he will not be a factor at the end.

It was a good race, not so many long yellow flags.

And i thought that Kanaan was going to take it this year after he passed through Dixon and Wheldon, but Marco made a mistake by doing that manover over Kanaan leaving him on the dirty side of the track and he lost the control of the car.

Vitor Meira did a very good race.

But the Ganassi's were very good. Dixon deserved the victory

Sorry I was at the race, & I doubt it was (if for no other reason than it had slow plotting fat cars, driven by less skilled drivers, who couldin't drive in the IRL)

On the race, I got most of my predictions right. I was disappointed Miera couldn't find a way to get it done. Dixon deserved the win, but I guess I feel for Miera who was close but no cigar again.

-Danica & Kanaan out (2 AGR Cars out) -No DR Rules it was not Danica's fault, but she wasn't going to win
-Roth out
-Duno out (well she wrecked but did finish so I guess that is wrong)
-Fisher top finishing female (Kanaan screwed that up, by being screwed by Andretti)
-Lots of yellows (yep)
-Penske not a factor (well they weren't really, but Helio finished better than I thought he would)

Wheldon, had something get his car out of balance, and that took care of him. Too bad for him

Graham = first out :banghead:

I don't know if there is anything more to say.

I thought it was a pretty good race, & I was happy to be there.

Relax Nick, I was down at the track at 5:00am and didnt leave until 7:30pm that night.;)

I had a great time at the track. I got to hang out with Danica before the race in the green room before they announced the drivers. I also escorted some celebrities and hung out with them in the celebrity suites. I also ate very well. Ate all day.;) The ones I met are Patricia Heaton, Jenna Elfman, Kristi Yamaguchi, Julianne Hough, Slash, Allison Sweeney.

After the race, I hung out in the Pagoda suite with Vision Racing. The team, drivers, and Tony George was there. That was pretty cool.

Here are my highlights of the race..

Danica Patrick was crashed out by Ryan Brisco. This upset me. She ran solid all day, had a good car and was in a position to win this race.Boy was she mad, the top IRL security guy(my boss) had to make her leave th pits because she was going over to his pit area.

Kudos to Scott Dixon for winning the 500.

Vitor Meira made the pass of the century when he passed on lap 160 going from 3rd to 1st. I was hoping he would of won since Danica was out.

Sarah Fisher had a bad day. Her car didnt start at the beginning, Spun out on a caution lap and struck Kanaan's car later in the race.

I was also impressed with Townsend Bell.

There were quite a few yellow flags in the race.

Marco should give his share of any winnings from the 500 to Sara Fisher Racing, and then go off to a monastery until he learns about sportsmanship and team work. What a jerk...IM~HO

vet4truth, Marco should at least donate for the academy award winning performance Sara gave with her post-race interview. Wow, I thought for a moment that a little kid dropped their ice cream cone on the ground.

DR -- Danica was in a position to WIN the race? How do you figure? She had a difficult car all day, she wasn't racing at pace, it wasn't a fuel save race? She had no shot of winning. She still shouldn't have been taken out, but she had no shot at winning.

That NeckCAR crap that she pulled after she got out of the car should not be allowed, and I am glad securiy kept it from happening. Again an example of what I don't like about her. TK gets screwed by a teamate, (which imo is worse) and he wants to deal with it behind closed doors. Danica get's screwed by another team, and she wants to confront someone because she knows nothing is going to happen to her because she is a female.

Briscoe is not a big guy, but if he sneezed too hard Danica would be knocked over, and if she were not a female the other driver wouldn't have to take it. This type of reaction screams spoiled brat, and a sense of entitlement. I know you are a fan, but it really bothers me.

On other notes, it sounds like you had a sweet day. Things were pretty good in turn 3.

I also think something should be done to help out Sarah Fisher. It can't happen too many times, but with the sponsor BS, and all of the other issues, the league should give her one bailout.

Danica's crew was constantly making adjustments to her car during the race. I feel if she hadnt of gotten knocked out that her car would of dialed in and she would of been running up front at the end of the race.

I can tell that at the Victory Banquet tonight I was at, she was still upset. But man, she looked gorgeous. I did get to say hi to her but she bailed out of the event as soon as it was over. She didnt stick around at all.

I agree about Sarah Fisher. That is sad. I hope she can get back in there. She belongs in the IRL. She is a great spokesperson and a good person in general.

I had a great month of May.:)

That was pretty much the only part of the race that I got to see while stopped at a pub on my way home during a 5 hour drive.

You hit it right on the money KN:thumbsup: There was no sound at the pub, and it wasn't really needed. Just her ridiculous, pissed-off walk said it all. Sure, I can understand she was pissed, but she takes it WAY to far, way to often. When I saw the media scrum when she entered the paddock, all I could do was  I don't know who she thinks she is:huh:

Well said Nut:thumbsup: I owe you a beer:drunk:

She was in no position to win and didn't show anything during the race that would suggest she did have a car for it.

She needs to grow up as well. it happens to everyone at some point but they don't try knock the guys head off or have a big sook about it.

she could learn a lot frm TK the way in his interview you could tell he was upset but he wasn't a baby about it.

And more on the Victory Banquet tonight. It was a great time! I got to talk to Scott Dixon for awhile, congratulated him on his win. Spoke with Dan Wheldon again. He is a very nice guy.

Got to speak to quite a few actually, Tony Kanaan, Helio, Ryan Briscoe, Graham Rahal, and others. Like I said, I did get a quick hello and talk with Danica but you could tell she was still upset and she didnt stick around. She left as soon as they were finished.

Umm yeah but that is what every team believe they are doing it doesn't mean they were on for a win;)

i'm not going to get into a debate about this. i still believe the other part of my post was true about how it happens to everyone at some point you just got to live with it and not be a sook about it.

Watching on TV you got to hear alot more of the in car banter with Danica. She was on the radio throughout the WHOLE race saying she had nothing. So she was never in place to win. Too bad for her and for Fisher. Fisher looked so sad after. Her deal is that she relies on her winnings to stay racing since she's an owner. And to everyones surprise, Dunno crashed....sorta...
