We all know how physical driving an F1 car is. But how physical is it to drive a stock car on ovals? Since (i hope) there's no trolls on NASCAR here (probably except EIR :D) I'd like a serious answer to this question.

It would be pretty demanding on the arms to hold a line in the same direction. That would just be tiring. I don't think it's nearly as bad as driving F1 or IRL but still. Look at the drivers though. You've got some pretty old ones and a few fat guys. I still think you need to be in good shape stamina wise to drive in any series though.

I agree, in racing you need to be in shape. Other than pit stops(which is short), there is no rest for the drivers. They cant call a time-out and there is no halftime. It is demanding to be behind a wheel driving that fast, feeling those g-forces, eye-hand coordination, upper body strength. Its all needed in any racing.
Danica keeps in good shape with extreme yoga.;)
But here is a good article for you to read lizard talking about NASCAR particularly.
