I heard this too.

Does anyone else think that tire warmers should be allowed in abnormally cold conditions, (think Iowa last year)?

I dont mind the use of tire warmers. This will obviously keep the tires up to temperature and help the first lap out of the pits almost as fast a regular race lap. The IRL has tire warmers, used at road/street courses.

As for last year's Iowa race, that was a special situation. A cold front moved in that no one expected. They were expecting high 80's and 90 degree weather. Instead they got mid 70's and overcast. Firestone had hard tires for them due to that and the new track surface so that played a big part in that too.

And I try to forget the Iowa race;) especially on lap 99 when Danica got involved in that 6 car crash that ended her day and she finished 13th.:(
