Oh wait the best part of American Open Wheel racing has been cast aside in favour of "talents" such as Hideki Mutoh, Danica Patrick, or Marco Andretti.

Danica has had bad luck at Homestead-Miami in the past with being involved with accidents so I feel this is her turn around success story at this track and for her first win.

The thing to remember is Dan Wheldon has won this race 3 years in a row (2005-2007).

It's a logical opinion at that.

She WILL NOT WIN this year, or any year for that matter. Not in IRL. To everyone BUT DP fans, it's very obvious she doesn't have what it takes. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

It's not bashing to speak the truth...

I have some:

Duno will more likely crash, or less likely finish last:banghead:

Dan Wheldon will win:finishfirst:

Rahal will be the top finishing Champ Car Refuge (Graham will be my new driver with the absence of Scott Sharpe, an I am from Columbus)

Danica will stall, or do something else stupid during the race to cost her a chance at a win. (Sorry DR)

Helio Will not be dancing, durring the race, but you will think he did by the end of the telecast.

Marco Andretti will finish an oval:eek:

Kanan will finish second:star:

Finally HD will be Purdy:D

DanicaRules

Yes, they break qualifications into groups. This is the order that the driver will take the track for their qualification run. No matter what group you are in, they fall in order by thier speed obviously to make the starting grid.
Remember, this year, they do the 4 lap qualification run. They take the average speed of 4 laps to determine their starting position. This will make a more exciting qualification.

Tracy still has four years remaining on a five-year deal he signed with Forsythe last season and is being paid. Tracy said his contract stipulates that Forsythe must field a car for him. But they arent obviously. Forsythe has even said they will team with Conquest this year but again Paul still doesnt have a ride. He is on the outside looking in. The contract states he cannot move unless he is released from it obviously but I doubt that will happen. Although they should if they arent going to field a car for him.

Im not 100% on all the details of the contract but this is basically what is going on from what Im hearing out of Indy.

EIR Loe.307
28th Mar 2008, 05:41 AM
That seems odd. I mean either Forsythe needs to provide a car as Forsythe or an additional Conquest car for him or release him. It seems to all be on the team though.

Yeah, I dont fully understand it either. I would love to read the darn contract myself.:) I mean if Forsythe is partnering with Conquest with technical and engineering resources , they should field Paul with a ride.

Conquest's 2 drivers are... Enrique Bernoldi and Franck Perera.

TK I think was on 3rd or 4th row.

Wheldon Crashed, so my prediction that he would win looks shaky.

I am stoked for this too, but F1 starting first has helped keep me calmer than I would normally be. I am glad I started watching that last year.

Anyway back to Indy.

As far as PT goes, it sucks, but I wonder if they could get him to be a third man in the booth if he can't race.:wonder: He certainly would have insight, and make the coverage way more entertaining.

Signed up for the IndyCar Race Control so that I'll be able to watch the racing in some way, at least. Cost me $39.99 for the season but as the dollar is the lowest it's been since 1992 it's more or less peanuts. :D

Too bad it's only on board cameras and not the real broadcast. But with on-board and live timing you usually have a pretty good idea on what's going on.

I like Scott Goodyear.

The biggest problem I've noticed so far is with the onboard camaras. With the one looking forward over the driver it's almost pointed down into the cockpit. With the ticker at the top you can't see any of the track. Just the driver turning left, and left, and left, etc...

Nick_Escalantes

the problem with these cars on ovals is that they spread out to quickly and it is horrible for TV coverage. With the awful camera angles ESPN decides on it's like watching cars on the freeway. If it were a road course it would be far more interesting even though they are spread out. After watching the 1st half of this race, I'm looking forward to F1 in Bahrain even more than I did before.

The IRL wonders why they don't get a rating, this is why. A mess. The coverage is all over the map.

Also, having 2 guys in the booth instead of the normal 3 person commentary does great damage to the presentation. There is no fluidity. Look at SPEED, ITV, FOX... all have 3 guys in the booth and far greater coverage and presentation... even w/ DW and Larry McMac Reynolds!

With the race now over here were my thoughts...

Cosmetic:

First of all I bet ESPN cost themselves a ton of money referring to this is race as the XM Indy 300, (last year's name) instead of the Gainsco Auto Insurance Indy 300.

Second why it that Marty Reid looks like a vampire?

I also hope that they get a third person in the booth. Hopefully someone with some personality.

Racing:

I hate the laped traffic causing so many problems. I hope that the new cars get more competitive before the end of the year, becasue if you have 25-26 start, but 4-5 end on the lead lap, this is going to get boring.

TK has to be sick to his stomach, what a horrible way to lose a race.

Duno still sucks:banghead:

Danica, overall ran a good race suprising enough to me.:o

Marco, who I thought was ruined, seems to have bounced back well, and looked confident in the car all night. The fact that he called off changes that the team wanted to make speaks to that.

Penske? What happened, have they dropped to a second tier team?

Only one former Champ Car driver beat an Indy Car veteran:( (Servia was one place in front of Daren Manning, who has looked awful in pre season testing). This is bad for the series. I hope this changes now that we are headed to a road course.

I was pleasantly surprised that there were not more yellow flags than there were. This was very good.

It was good to get the series back. I hope it is a great year.:)

Well, the first race is in the books. Scott Dixon wins the Gainsco Auto Insurance Indy 300. He had a good weekend. Got the pole and the win.
It was a good race. Kanaan should of had the victory until he collided with Viso late in the race.:(

Marco had a strong car tonight as well. Wheldon was impressive. He came from 22nd and had the lead for awhile and finished 3rd. He is phenomenal on this track.

Darn Milka crashes out Ryan Briscoe. She needs to go! Ryan will have a strong year.

I think the former champcar drivers did good tonight as well. It was the first race on an oval for a lot of these guys.

Danica ran a good race. I was proud of her. I wanted her in Victory Lane but she did well. She finished 6th. Good job Danica! She will get em at St. Pete.:D

The Race Control was a complete waste of money. It started out good enough, I chose to follow my old Formula 3000 hero Justin Wilson's onboard camera down in the back of the mid-field. After two laps the live timing/telemetry stopped working and after Justin got sandwiched and had to enter the pits there was no way of knowing how many laps he was down. There was no commentary, just the team radio, and there's only so much you can pick up from - "left left left left left clear" - "SHHHHHKRRRRRRRR" - "Car OK". - "Pit pit pit pit". As the Race Control for some reason shows the action with a delayed broadcast there was no point in using the live timing from the Indycar.com site.

After a half an hour or so I realised that IndyCar.com streamed the race live for free with commentary! So, paying $39.99 brought me crap onboards, non-functioning timing and no commentary (not even text) while the free option got me commentary, timing and footage of the lead car and slow-mo replays of important stuff. Makes sense.

Now that they have taken over ChampCar, why not bring their Race Director (which was pretty damn awesome!) instead of this crap.

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

The Race Control was a complete waste of money.....

I hope you plan to try to get your $$ back. I'd toss a "I have 1000 people reading my review so you better gimmie my $$ back" line out there.
