Former Touring Car vetern David Leslie and Richard Lloyd, team boss for Richard Lloyd Racing and former Sportscar racer, were killed when their private Cessna aircraft went down into a housing estate in Kent yesterday. Both pilots and the three passengers were killed. The pilot reported about severe engine vibrations to the nearby airfield shortly before crashing. No one on the ground was injured.
David Leslie raced in the BTCC between 1991 and 2002 and finished second to Laurent Aiello in 1999. In his junior career he raced single seaters, finishing second in the Formula Ford festival and fifth in the British F3 series.
