Race 1
Race 1 finally showed Ben Spies breaking Mladin's perfect points season. He nabbed pole and the 2 were off racing. Mladin led for a while and was looking strong. Spies put in some hard fast laps and went head to head with Mat. Finally Spies went for a sweet pass and the 2 touched lightly. The pass stuck and Mladin had to stand the bike up some costing him time. GREAT racing. Spies went on to win by a good margin. This was a Factory Suzuki sweep again. That's 2 in a row.
Race 2
Race 2 was a great race up front. Mladin and Spies took off into the sunset while Hayden battled the Yamaha for 3rd. That was a great battle as well. Eventually Hayden was able to secure 3rd. This led to the 3rd consecutive sweep by the Factory Suzuki team. So I guess you're wondering about Mladin and Spies. Mladin led from the start and the gap was up to around 2.5 sec. Spies almost gave up (his words) but decided to push it. On the last lap he was within a half to a full bike length behind and charging. It came down to the final turn and straight. Spies tucked in under Mladin's rear tire and they both let it all go. Spies got the draft and JUST managed to get by at the line. They didn't know who won till after. The gap was 0.011sec!!!! It was freakin awesome!!! If I get a vid I'll post.
As it stands, Mladin leads with 178pts., Spies in 2nd with 158, and Hayden in 3rd with 143.
