View Full Version : Don't Know Much About Racing, but...

I still think its fun. I'm not such a big fan of the NASCAR stuff. The only reason I would go to one of those races is for the huge party that goes on all day pretty much.

The kind of racing that I like is drag racing. It's quick, powerful, and yes, I'll admit that I got interested in the sport after I saw Vin Diesel get behind the wheel. Now yes, while that was a movie and most things may not be right (I dunno, I'm a watcher, not a driver), I still liked it. Let's face it; I might be one of those girls that think that drifting is hot!

Hahahaha!! I hope not!

'Drifting' isn't racing per se. They do it a bit around here, and it's more of a 'pastime' than racing:rolleyes: Mostly for a lack of proper 'racing' facilities and events.

There's a big difference between Drag Racing and this Drifting:rolleyes:.

I'm assuming you're fairly young if you're that enamored with a movie with Vin 'couldn't-act-his-way-out-of-a-wet-paper-bag' Diesel:wonder:

But welcome either way!:D
Maybe you'll find an interest in REAL motor sports:thumbsup:

Welcome!

I wouldn't rag on drifting too much Salty, it can teach some good racing skills, like car control.

Keiichi Tsuchiya got his start in drifting, then carved out a very successful racing career. Even at the highest levels of racing (he came within a whisker of winning the 1999 24 hours of Le Mans) he continued to use drifting techniques.

Yeah, fair enough:wonder:

It's these damn movies that piss me off. Oh, and the teenaged boneheads who think they're hot shit (after watching said movies) and take this crap to the streets in the $$$ cars that Mommy and Daddy bought them.

Learning 'skills' is one thing.. Being a spoiled, arrogant, douche-bag with nothing else to do, is another. (not saying the new member, guppy is one of them).

Man, I need a smoke:banghead:

That I agree with.

I have to admit I'm a drift hater. I've come to accept it as entertainment but it's not racing. As was said before though, it has some skill merit that can transfer. Look at last year, Hamilton sliding around corners. I'm sure it's fun as hell too.

I dunno if 24 is young still, but I do like hearing it! No, I understand that movies like The Fast and the Furious are just that; movies. I should know, I work in the film business myself. I just like the idea of being able to get behind a car and just GO. I act like that on the road anyways, weaving through traffic, racing my friends on a stretch (that hopefully doesn't have any cops on it!)...I like the freedom of that car. I freak out when someone takes my keys away from me! See, obviously, I'm not a racer, so I can't identify with a person that says, "man, that movie sucked!"

Still think drag and drifting is hot though. Won't be able to change my mind about that!

We just try to expand your horizons. :D

When you see a street racer that's got all this money in it and then go look at a real race car there is no comparison. The car is purpose built and it shows on the track. Have fun crashing in traffic. lol. J/k be careful.
