This weekend it's time for the first city race in Sweden. With the introduction of Ethanol in both the STCC and all the support classes the politicans couldn't pull out the old pollution card like in the good old days so we now have a city race! :)

The track is looking pretty exciting with a couple of fast corners that will probably see a car or two getting rid of their rear view mirrors.

Here's an onboard video:

The BMW team Flash Engineering has according to their webpage stocked up on rear view mirrors for the upcoming street race. They are coming to this weekend with 24 spare mirrors.

"We are expecting to lose two rear view mirrors each time we go out on track, everything below that has to be considered a bonus."

On a different note, Robert Dahlgren crashed out in the practice session yesterday and was sent to the hospital because of back pains. He said he'd be allright and that he's ready to race. Looking at the picture attached his car looks pretty beat up, I don't know if they have a spare car available. Prior to his crash he was the quickest guy out there.

The STCC race was really a cracker with extremly close racing and plenty of passing eventhough it was a tight track. Thed Björk won in the Honda closely followed by Norwegian Tomas Schie in the Chevrolet Lacetti and championship leader Fredrik Ekblom in the BMW 320si in third. Volvo's Robert Dahlgren had pole and led until the pitstop but had then problems keeping up the pace (most probably because he was in a lot of pain from his practice accident) and ended his race by getting a Honda in his side door.

The support series were exciting as well with grids of 30 in both Porsche Carrera Cup and the Camaro Cup. In the later series Duncan Huisman was a guest driver and won both races (although driving a bit on the defensive side having to weave and block a bit too much to keep second placed Krokström behind him in race 2). But it was great to watch Duncan more or less all the time going sideways between the barriers. Great entertainment. :D

I know no one cares but here's a pretty sweet onboard clip from Göransson's race. :D
