My brother-in-law has a collection of different sized die-cast model racing cars.
I'm not sure if he's done with that yet, but I was wondering if anyone here collects them, and if you've bought any from a good source online?

I don't collect them myself but we have several antique stores in town that have a few older models in them. I have thought about getting one but have never done it. Any idea how many your brother has in his collection?
I have a Porsche collection, mainly die casts, going back to the late sixties, about 60 of them, with probably another 50 or 60 waiting to be built, I also have a number of plastic models, ranging from 1/32nd to 1/12th scale.
I used to have a number of other cars, I've sold some (all my Ferraris are long gone) last car I sold was a couple of years ago, it was a pretty rare BMW 507, but none of my Porsches are for sale, I'm a Porsche freak and won't part with any of them.
BTW: 99% of my models are race cars, I also have a fairly extensive Porsche library, where I do my research and try to reproduce the cars as exactly as possible.
I don't collect, but a close friend of mine does, and he says he prefers to buy in person. He takes more enjoyment in inspecting it before buying and comparing with others on the shelf to make a decision.
I'd guess he has about 20 or so, in two different scales. He tends to move on to other hobbies. Right now he's building wooden ship models, which I think is cool as well.
Speaking of die-cast, there's a great sort of boutique store in the lower level of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto that has quite a selection - Not just racing but things like a Chicago police car from the sixties, etc.
I love browsing there.![]()
