    Lemon Laws?

I just came across this interesting article. In fact, it seems that the subject "Lemon Laws", has been circulating in the media for quite a while.

A lemon has become a term for describing a defective car. Notably, the consumer is not made aware of the defect/s at the time of the purchase, and only finds out about it later, when in most cases its too late.

Interestingly, the legal framework regarding these "lemons" is still vague, and therefore vary by state.

So watch out for those lemons!

I must say that in the UK, I have not heard that term before. As much as it sounds suitable, we don't use the term lemon for defect cars. But naturally, in recent years, this too has been as subject of debate here in the UK. Actually, lemon laws could use a revamp I guess.

So there's no equivalent term in the UK? Are you sure? In any case, I have grown to like the term. With the current GM troubles, one really needs to watch those lemons.

But as a consumer there's not really much you can do. Which is why I guess the laws are being revised.

I don't buy lemons. Just imagine saying "I got myself a lawyer to consult me on Lemon Laws".

@7TimeChamp: Looks like the English Language no longer has the capacity for new words. So now we're resorting to fruits and vegetables
