How old for a dirt bike?

My friend lives in a rural town in Wisconsin. She was telling me her nephew was so excited on his last birthday because he was old enough to start riding a dirt bike. He just turned 7. Do you think this is too young? How old were you when you learned to ride a dirt bike?

I think your friend and the boy's parents better know his skill and capability than we do. But seven years old is not too young. The recommended age to ride a mini dirt bike is from 5 to 15 years old.

Vroom is right. Rural areas have different guidelines. Kids on farms are often driving equipment and such while still being too young for public roads. At the same time, safety courses and supervision is key.

With the proper safety equipment, training and supervision I would say 7 is fine. I was riding a mo-ped (spelling) back when I was around 7. My nephew got his first dirtbike at 10.
