Do you have a certain amount of money put away for car repairs or do you just wing it? Car repairs always seem to pop up at the wrong time. I wish the could be planned...lol

I feel you my friend. Car trouble springs up when you have empty pockets and you have to scratch your head to figure out where to find the money for repairs.
If only I can talk to my car and tell it to have problems when I have the money to spare.
I don't save for repairs. I have been lucky. Whenever I have had a problem with my vehicle, I have been able to fix it. I do not have to pay for labor, so that is a big saver right there.
I have a savings account that is just for emergencies in general, and sudden car repairs count. There have been times where it was too low to cover the car repair expenses, and that's when things get tricky.
There is a buffer in my budget for all ER types and that includes cars. Honestly the last time I ended up with a car ER (managed 2 nail holes in each front tire a month after I got the car) was right after a family ER when I needed to travel out of state. Talk about timing.
Oh man, Creg! Isn't that always the way. When it rains it pours. I am trying to be a little bit better at trying to have emergency monies but aside. Lately, it seems like everything is going on my car. That is what happens when your car has over 200,000 miles on it.
I guess this is the reason why we should have car insurance. The problem is this insurance is not cheap.
Which do you think is better, saving money in the bank for car repairs or having car insurance?
I have no choice. I have to have car insurance in the state I live. It's the law. Insurance is good if you are in an accident, but for general repair, it won't cover it.
No, unfortunately. I just have to deal with repairs as they come up or as on an 'as needed' basis. The economy doesn't allow for much 'putting away'.
