    Bike accidents

Have you ever been in a motorcycle accident or known someone who has?

I have had a couple good friends get into accidents because they were being stupid. One was driving really fast in a rain storm and another one was driving fast on a dirt road. Both of them were lucky. They were banged up pretty good but it could have been worse.

I use caution when I am on a bike. Accidents happen to easily.

Accidents happen in any type of vehicle and not just on bikes. We should be very careful with our driving. And as my father always tell me "you should always be a defensive driver", it is not enough being careful but to be alert as well for other vehicles might crash onto you.

I agree that you can get in an accident with any type of vehicle, but accidents are bikes are painful. I was in one once when I was much younger. I had horrible road rash. It hurt for weeks. I was young and stupid at the time. I was racing a buddy and ended up hitting some rocks. I wiped out instantly. It wasn't fun.

I am careful when it comes to driving any vehicle. I usually do not worry about myself because I really try to pay attention to what is going on when I am driving. I do worry about other drivers and what they are doing though.

Exactly what I was going to say. Accidents in any moving vehicle can be horrible, but you are so much moe vulnerable on a bike. I haven't been in an accident, knock on wood, but I do know people who have and it is never pretty.

That's true. Riding a bike, you can get seriously injured even in a light crash. I had been in a motorbike accident and it was not fun at all. Now I am a safe rider and never ride above allowed speed limits.

This reminds of my colleague at work. He had a motorcycle accident and suffered a second degree burn on his right leg. The muffler of the motorcycle went on top of his leg when the motorcycle fell down on the road.

Ouch! That must be hot. Having only two wheels, motorcycle can fell down easily and that's the main drawback of it. Two wheel vehicles is a new technology compared to the four wheels one. Before the invention of bicycles, nobody thought that it's even possible to ride a two wheel vehicle.

We actually had a friend die two weeks ago Thursday. He was riding his motorcycle to work and someone pulled out in front of him. He laid the bike down to try and avoid the crash but to no avail. He was declared dead at the scene. He left behind a wife and two small kids and the driver of the vehicle is in jail. I can't help but think what a waste at 30 years old.

Years ago, when I was a teenager, my father bought a motorcycle. He had never even ridden one before so I really can't imagine why he wanted it. The first few rides he took, he took his time and seemed to do okay on it. Then he decided to go faster and ended up flipping it on an old country road. Luckily, he was only skinned up a lot and nothing was broken. He ended up selling the motorcycle a week after that wreck.
