    Hollywood Encouragement

I remember hearing kids ranting and raving when The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift came out, like as if drifting was this brand-new thing in the states that they all had to try. Obvious mistake for most of them. What did you all think of the movie, anyway?

I haven't seen any of that series of movies. I remember hearing the local police expressing concern because the movies influence the driving of some people.

As for the movies themselves, I appreciate good stunts. I'd like to see how much of a story they have.

I haven't seen the movies, but I wrote in another post about how dumb my boyfriend is and how he's been influenced by the movies. He especially thinks Paul Walker is cool. I just think it's stupid.

I did like the movie but at the same time you are swapping up this movie with kids (teens I assume), it makes me wonder where the parents are. My kids, once at the age where they would understand this movie are going to understand the difference between what is on the screen and when they are out driving.

Movies are greatly affecting the views and values of kids today. Twilight makes girls want to have a vampire sweetheart.

But seriously movies tend to tell the kids how to act and behave. And the movie that we are discussing is one them. In real life, street racing is very dangerous and prohibited. But because of these movies, they want to feel the thrill of the speed, they don't think about the danger that goes with it.

I remember a saying that goes "A speed that thrills is a speed that kills!"

I find that interesting, seeing as I just saw Paul Walker as eye candy for the girls watching the movie (for the crazies who don't appreciate Vin Diesel, heh). I would think he'd think Diesel is more cool.

He likes Vin Diesel too-- but I think he sees himself as similar to Paul Walker in the eye candy sense. Ha. I do love watching Paul Walker in other movies though.

I was too wrapped up in the cars and the speed scenes to get much of a story line out of the Fast and the Furious. The action definitely overshadowed any plot in my eyes.

I must be old fashion here but good parenting skills help to teach kids the different between movies, games and real life. In real life there are no reset buttons with do-overs. Movies are fine and dandy but some parents need to step it up and stop blaming Hollywood for their lack in parenting skills.

I agree with creg. Tokyo Drift is my favorite car movie but I never race on streets. I could say that I strictly follow traffic rules because I don't want to get into accidents.
