    Country with the best drivers

I've never really seen this discussed before and always thought it might be kind of a cool discussion. What country do you think has the best drivers? I tend to give the nod to Germany with Schumacher and Daimler-Chrysler being based there giving them a bit of an edge, but I know France is pretty far up there too! What's everyone else's opinion?

Well the Germans have not always been famous for their drivers. They always had some representation in the sport, but Michael Schumacher remains the first and only German Formula 1 Champion.

Right now, the Germans have quite a lot of drivers in the sport, though mostly in low-level teams. US (156), Great Britain (155), Italy (98), and France (67) have had their share of representation (not necessarily success ) throughout history.

In my opinion, Finland has the best set of drivers, not necessarily world champion drivers. This article from Wikipedia shows you just how many people we call ?Flying Finn? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Finn_%28sports%29

It's hard to say as how do you compare countries that perform well on a per capita basis against larger countries. A lot of South American drivers have done well over the years.

That's interesting. I never knew the Untied States had such a big stake in the F1 stuff given most of us Americans usually ignore it (I don't really remember F1 ever hitting it real big over here, especially after the huge tire crisis). Great Britain is one I never expected either. I would've expected France to be in the Top 3, but they're at four...hmm....oh well, guess I was pretty far off
