Thread: Nelson Piquet dropped out of the Reanult.

Some of my friends predicted nothing less then never fading F1 stardom for Nelson Piquet, but he has been dropped out form the Renaults.
Don't know what went wrong for him! Can you tell us....

He did not exactly set the F1 world on fire last year and there were already rumors of his dismissal last season and some predicted that he would not start this season with Renault, he has been on very shaky ground since the beginning of the season, due to lack of performance, he claims that Briatore did not provide him with the same mechanical resources available to Alonso, he also had a performance clause in his contract that he must reach 40% of the points Alonso gains, yet he has no points at all this season.
Both sides are pointing fingers at each other and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, fact remains that he was never really ever close to Alonso's performance this season.
I recall an interview with his father at Malaysia (if I recall correctly) were he appeared to be struggling to find something positive to say about his son, right there I figured that his dismissal would only be a question of time.

That is all after he has entered the arena. I have heard about his build up to F1 days and it was nothing less then wow!
I totally agree with you that the kind of performance he has given on the track is not worth another go.

I think Piquet had no potential to match the hard work put in by Renault team.
So he has been dropped & it is rightly so. They must search for a good driver soon.
