    No indian race for 2011

Well despite 'ol Bernie trying to export F1 to new markets, it seems the plans for the Indian GP will not get off the ground.

It has been revealed that the Indian Govt and investors do not actually classify motorsport as a "sport". Seems they realilse that the money woudl be better spent on infrastructure for sports where the masses can play-enjoy,

So, personally whilst its a shame to see that they cant make the most of an opportunity in front of them i think it is a great thing that India is not getting a GP.

The infrastructure isn't there, i am not sure there is a real passion for motorsport (especially when it comes time to pay for tickets) and even with Force India in the ranks i think there are already too many GPs in places where the stands are empty and the crowds dont care....all whilst there are some great traditional tracks that are being shelved.

Well, it doesn't seem feasible for India to host F1 at the moment or at least for few more years. The main reason, as spotted by victor, is the lack of infrastructure. Not just the track but a lot needs to be developed before F1 can step in India.

As for the fans are concerned, I think we are ready. Though it may not be a complete success but I'm sure there are many die-hard fans wanting to see F1 live.

ya..the indian govt. feels that f1 is too expensive a sport to happen on indian soil..but vijay mallya, who is the owner of team india is quite confident and wilrequest the government to let the f1 race happen in india..i think mallya is doing a great job on his part by making the sport so popular amongst the indians which was earlier never like that..

India has a lot of infrastructure problems and they can organize well a formula 1 race. They will have to wait until their country develops a good motorway system.
