Back in the late sixties and seventies, Ford was the dominating engine in F1, and F1 survived nicely. The fact that Mercedes has currently the best engine does not mean that domination will remain forever, next year Ferrari, Renault or Toyota could have a better engine relegating the Mercedes engine to the also ran, you just never know.
Having stated that F1 survived with the Ford engine dominance for years does not mean I endorse a single engine Formula, far from it. I'd rather see several manufacturers battling for supremacy.
I think Ferrari is the best in this segment and they will do whatever to prove themself, may be in the current context they are lagging behind but I believe it is a time for them to go at their workshop and hammerdown to find something that is unbeatable.
i dont know with the engine freeze, what can be done concerning the engines, but it seems that mercedes are currently dominant.
maybe they will remain like that for a few seasons, but for sure the other manufactureres will fight back, provided they are still in F1.
Then again the engine is not the single most important factor in an F1 car.
