    Manhattan GP

Meant to post this a few days ago but it drifted out of my mind. In a recent article about the location of the British GP Bernie also mentioned his desire to get back to the USA. He also stated his ideal choice would be a Manhattan street race.

Is it possible? And if it is what would the track look like? GT4 had a New York street track but it was a bit dull and also quite short.

It would be in the parking lot of a casino or some other dumb location. Really, you Americans (generalisation) don't understand F1 well enough to deserve one. All Bernie wants is the money.

That was kind of condescending and uncalled for.

The last thing we need is another street race (parade), why don't they bring Watkins Glen up to F1 standards and go back there, that was a very popular race back in the days.

And the people of Abu Dhabi and Bahrain do?

A F1 street race will never happen in the United States, for multiple reasons money, time, and politics. Of course there shouldn't be anymore boring street races. Bring either Watkins Glen, Road America, or Laguna Seca up the todays standards and race there.

The problem with bringing old tracks up to F1 standards some of them become sanitised and lose their character. I have seen some footage from the old US F1 gps and they did look great.

What happened to the GP at Indianapolis? I thought Tony George was really enthused with having F1 at the track.

What didn't help was that infamous year when all the Michelin runners decided to protest and just did one lap before coming into the pits.

Indianapolis tried to ride on the coattail of its own legend, it did not work and the road course was not the most exiting venue, Tony George's ego finally caught up with him when he was booted out of IRL earlier this year. The Michelin incident was one of the last nails in the coffin, not that Tony George or F1 could be blamed, Michelin accepted the responsibility at the time, kind of strange that a few years later NASCAR had a disastrous race there as well because of a tire issue with Goodyear.
I still maintain that the best thing would be to bring Watkins Glen up to F1 standards and bring the US GP back to its original track, I would rather go to Watkins Glen than Montreal, not a big fan of the Montreal track, in Canada I would love to see a GP at Mosport, there's a track for hairy chested guys (just think turn 2).
