    Formula 1 for PCs

what's with the PC gaming scene? Havent seen anything new on f1 since f1challenge and gp4. Of course there are some cool mods out there, but simulation capabilities have improved year on year (not to mention graphics capabilities)... no question that a much more realistic physics model is out there somewhere.

Why hasnt it found its way to the shelves i wonder?

That's a good question. Sony struck a deal with Bernie Ecclestone in 2003 that gave them exclusive rights for Formula 1 video games, until 2007.

The good news is that this contract probably expired earlier this year. This does not however exclude the possibility of an extension, but I think we all hope that a new agreement will allow for distribution across all platforms, whether PC, PS3 or Wii

that's absurd. its tantamount to cheating actually. i'm sure there'll be some clause somewhere citing something like this as UTP (unfair trade practice) or a kind of hoarding or maybe a psuedo monopoly

    Someone should sue bernie.
in fact maybe this forum can sue him

My GP4 disk broke almost 2 years ago so it's been a long time since I've played a decent F1 game.

I need a new computer and especially a new wheel/pedal set before I can do anythign with the new games.

Last summer I did spend a bit of time with the old GP Legends game, got pretty quick with 1965 mod.

there's a lot of chinese crap out there - very affordable - but very fragile, not sensitive enough, and without any 'feel' if you know what I mean. Decided to hang in there until I can pick up a really good one.

Maybe I'll buy my son one as a birthday present!

I got a new pc 2 weeks ago. Dual processor, 2 gig ram, 256mb graphics card, 250gig hd. GP4 runs fab on it. Looks so realistic, no compromise on smoothness over detail.

You guys suck. Here in the US we don't even get F1 games. Now with the PS3 we finally do. Ya, I'll just head out and spend $600 on a PS3 and $60 on F1 Challenge. I have a PS2, an Xbox, and my buddies Xbox 360, not to mention my PC's. I got an old F1 Career challenge game (Sux) from like 2002. I don't know that there's any leagality issue though. Halo only came out for Xbox (and eventually PC) and there are lots of games that are exclusive to a platform. I wish it wasn't like that.
