    MotoGP '06 and '07 for Xbox 360

I rented MotoGP '06 for the Xbox 360 today. Man I suck at it. I'm an F1 type guy so my motorcycle physics are a bit off. Flying through the gravel is now an art form around here. Anyone else here play and if so are you good with it?

Also, the '07 edition will be out in Aug. here in the states. Keep your eye out for that if you're in the market for a MotoGP game.

The game looks awsome. I might have to fork out the money for the 360 sooner than later. It's hard to justify when I really only play 2 or 3 games at all. I lack the gamer gene WAY better graphics than TT. Which in and of itself is a very difficult game. I don't know how I'll adjust to an Xbox controller after all these years of PS though.

I thought the same thing way back when I went from a PS2 to and Xbox. It's not that hard to get used to. My buddy got the 360 and he goes out of town alot so I get to steal it. Hehehe. The graphics are great, I just suck at it.

Practice, practice, practice... Like I'm one to talk! I've had TT for over a year and I haven't looked at it in MONTHS. If I go for it, I bail. Grrrr.

Is it Xbox live capable? Please say no. If it is, I'll sucker myself into buying it. Next thing you know, we'll be battling each other 'till the wee hours.

Moto GP is frustratingly hard. The most important thing is not to overdrive the bike, get slowed down nice and early, hold the speed through the corner and then roll gently onto the power as you exit. Also don't forget to adjust the riders body position while riding, especially by pulling back on the left stick while under braking (pushing forward is very useful at the start of races).

You also have to take time to learn each individual track, which is a major task in its own right. I'm pretty good at some circuits like Shanghi, Mugello, and Laguna Seca. While others, like Donington, Qatar, and inparticular Assen I'm just terrible at.

One thing I'd like to see in future Moto GP games is instead of having the Moto GP and some dumb fictional Extreme series, they do away with the extremem series and add 125cc and 250cc championships to the game. You create your rider start out in 125cc which would be light and easy to get used to riding, then progress to 250cc, then to Moto GP. Hopefully by the time you reach Moto GP you'd be familier with the riding basics and most of the tracks.

Salty, Moto GP is XBOX live capable.

EDIT: One gripe I have with this game, and it looks like it hasn't been solved for Moto GP 07, is that when riding in the 1st person view, ie the view that is most realistic, there are no working gauges or displays. I can see the LCD displays, and the tachometer, but they don't do anything. How hard is it to make a little red needle move up and down? It makes using the manuel gear shift almost impossible when in that view as you have no real idea when to shift, or more importantly what gear you're actually in, because losing due to accidently shifting into nuetral is annoying.

You know I had already thought of that for PGR2 or PGR3 and then F1 if it comes out on other systems. Hehehe. It's would be cool if we races the circuits for each race weekend and had a WRF championship going. I guess it would be like the batracer thing but we'd be racing online. Sweet. Too bad there's all the time diferences.

I feared that! Oh geez. It would be fun, thats for sure. Do you know how XBOX live works, or the cost? Is it dial up? Can I use my cable internet? Should I even be asking about this?!
I have better things to blow my money on, but I want it sooo bad!
    Time-shmime, we'd figure it out.

It's broadband only. You'd need to hook up a router to your cable modem. Not sure of the cost. I don't have it now. Back when Halo 2 came out I had it and it was like $50-$55 a year. It's pretty easy to use. It's been a while, but not hard when I had it. You go in through the game and get online and you have a friends list so you can see who's online and then you setup a game and go. And no you shouldn't be asking these questions.

Thanks Ryan. I don't ride so that doesn't help either. I did a little of what you said and It was better. I won a race (on easy). I think I'll get better at it. I'm going to wait till the '07 version comes out in Aug. to buy. Also, just so you know, the PS3 went down $100 in price so I'm that much closer to getting F1 Championship Ed.

I haven't played the game yet, partly because I don't have a 360 . I'll give it a shot though when I somebody gives me a chance. Sounds like a real challenge

I have it on Rookie right now. If you start a season, you setup a rider and then gain attributes like Cornering, Top Speed, Acceleration, and Braking. It makes it a little harder since you're not the best to start out. I will help you learn to ride better. I did my 2nd race and got pole over Rossi by 11.8 sec. and went on to win!! Yea!! Now I'll need to do that on a higher setting than easy. Hehehhe
