Thread: Age Of Conan (PC)

Anyone going to play this when it's released? As an old Conan comics fan I'll try this one with 100% effort atleast for a while, maybe even several years.

Wat? Are you on crack? AOC is the first MMORPG which uses dx10 and therefore is able to run graphics way better than any of the current games. It also has ground braking fighting system which improves realism by miles. Not to forget that AOC got way over 500k applications to beta testing so I think it's going to be a huge success...

Key word CURRENT games. But utilizing DX10 Graphics is nothing new. Aion is utilizing the DX10 anti-aliasing much better than AoC based on the comparison of both games.

Dont forget Soul of the Ultimate Nation which is also a great contender graphics wise.

Dont forget Warhammer Online which also has a new graphics texture system.

Guild Wars 2 will possibly have one of the best graphics with their texture blend and great anti-aliasing. It almost defeats Aion.

Finally, dont count out JumpGate: Evolution's wonderful picturesque visual space/solar systems.

AoC doesn't belittle ANY new MMORPG graphics wise except Rohan Online (which doesn't really count).

But I can also think of current MMORPGs that can stand with or possibly over AoC: EVE Online, Rappelz (on max with DX10) and Lord of the Rings Online. Currently the only MMORPG with superior graphics is Aion.

The whole direction blow system may be interesting at first. But in massive PvP it doesn't address the whole spamming problem that has destroyed so many MMORPGs such as Vanguard. This system may be great during dues, but in mass PvP side all I saw was people just standing there casting and swinging as fast as possible. Kiting is not even viable with the spellcaster class.

Beta apps mean nothing. About 700K signed up for Horizon's beta and do you still remember that game? (Neither do I). Simply put, AoC has too many competition so far and with this third generation of MMORPGs, even the F2P ones are starting to get much better in quality with games like Rappelz, Mabinogi, Cabal and Rohan.

Of course this whole thing is speculation and I could be completely wrong. I dont deny that. But impressive wise, only JumpGate: E and Aion has impressed me so far.

Anyways I believe it's going to be great game. The Conan lore is something that most of the games you mentioned don't have.

I hardly play pc games, but I might give this game a try.
