Snap-on Stars of Karting Grand Finale this weekend

On a temporary circuit, inside the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Snap-on Stars of Karting Grand Finale will take place this weekend, where North America's best Pilots will compete to be crowned Champions in each category, ICC/KZ2, JICA, Comer Cadet, and TaG, (similar to KF2).

Will get updates here as I can.

    Sorry for the delay.

In the premier category, Canadian Michael Vincec, (CRG), did everything he had to do to edge out American Gary Carlton, (CRG) for the ICC Championship. In winning the championship, Vincec also was the recipient of the Skip Barber $25,000 Career Enhancement Prize, where he will compete next year. Other notables in the Championship hunt, Canadian Jordy Vorath, (Intrepid), experienced mechanical problems, eliminating him from the chase. American David Jurca, (ItalKart), always a front runner, simply did not get the results he needed to bring home the Championship.

In JICA, the most exciting competition of the weekend, American Branden Phinny, (Top Kart), edged out American Gustavo Menenzes, (Tony Kart) for the Championship. Both Drivers faught to the very end and did everything they could to capture the title, however Phinny came out on top. Other notables in the hunt, American Phil Dileo, (Tony Kart), was caught up in an on-track incident in Final 1, eliminating his chances at the title.

In Stars TaG, poised to take the championship to a battle Americans Chris Schribner, (Top Kart), and Victor Cabrera, (Kosmic), experienced various setbacks. Schribner was penalized for driving conduct, and relegated back in positions, while Cabrera experienced mechanical problems in the heat races, setting back his chances at a good start in the Finals. In the end, Cabrera battled his way up to finish in the points well enough to take the Championship over Schribner. Other notables, American Joey Wimset, (Intrepid), simply did not finish well in heat races nor finals to get the title. American Joey Licata, (CRG), was a factor as well, but not enough participation in 2008 kept him from a title fight.

It was a very exciting weekend. A tough second for Gary Carlton who won both finals, but ended up losing the overall championship to Vincec by a mere one point! Carlton was absolutely dominant this year with the exception of his mechanical DNF's.
