    Biathlon World Championship 2008

I just bought myself (oh crap, I really need to lay off the work. I actually typed mysql instead of myself twice before I got it right) tickets to one day at the Biathlon World Championship. On the 16th I'm off for a 1.5 hour train ride and then I'll be freezing my *** off cheering for the Swedes for a whole day. And then it's back on the train.

I'm really looking forward to this. When I was younger I thought biathlon was just a novelty thing in the Olympics but after watching it a couple of times I actually find it to be one of the most exciting TV sports out there.

For those of you who don't know, the biathlon is an old military event that involves cross country skiing and rifle shooting. Miss the target and you'll have to go through the penalty loop and lose precious seconds. The faster you ski the harder it will become to shoot so it's a fine line...

I like watching it too when I get the chance, even though the Swiss are not particularly good at it. It usually ends up being decided amongst you Scandinavians

WoW, I didn't follow any winter sports this year. It's February, I'm so late it's just not worth starting

Your Swiss and haven't followed any winter sports?! I wouldn't say that out loud if I were you, you could get deported.

Well, I see the results on the news but haven't had a chance to allocate the prolonged period of time required by a winter sport event

It's a Biathlon thread so it won't get me deported. Ski jumping or slalom probably would

There were three of four hours of today that I thought my toes had moved on to the other side, but other than dead frozen limbs it was a great day.
