Big Three CEOs Flew Private Jets to Plead for Public Funds

The CEOs of GM, Ford and Chrysler may have told Congress that they will likely go out of business without a bailout yet that has not stopped them from traveling in style, not even First Class is good enough.

All three CEOs - Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler - exercised their perks Tuesday by flying in corporate jets to DC. Wagoner flew in GM's $36 million luxury aircraft to tell members of Congress that the company is burning through cash, asking for $10-12 billion for GM alone.

I guess I can understand the need for them to travel in a private plane IF they could be discussing business. They have trade secrets, business deals, whatever and need to keep their competitive edge over their competitors. That said it looks like the need for that is over. They all could have taken one of the planes or maybe jumped on a Cessna. Hell a used Cessna goes for about what a car does. I got an idea, why not jump in one of YOUR OWN CARS and see how you like driving junk. Then they ask if Toyota of Honda use private jets. Well for one, those brands are doing FINE, and 2 Honda MAKES A JET. Hondajet, look it up on here. Michael Moore made a great point (for once) and said that these guys need to take a Civic or a Toyota car around the block a few times. GM and Ford (mostly GM) have a practice of making cars that WILL fall apart so that you go buy a new car. EXACTLY!! It really is a good idea......for Toyota. This is EXACTLY why I bought my Scion and why Toyota surpassed GM. If I were Toyota I would repay the favor by buying out GM at a HUGE low. Ford and Chrysler would make a good team. They would corner the US truck market on day one.

My ONLY use for GM at this point is that they MFG. a large % of the military vehicles, and that may not even be true any more. Hummers are not being made any more and the ones the military have are OLD not new. Most of the larger vehicles are made by smaller companies. Oshkosh, Stewart and Stevenson etc.

I can understand using private jets for business deals, but the contracts signed by the CEO's they said they use their private jets for all travel, even for just wives of CEO's, and that it's non-negotiable.

I'm sure all of the Wall Street executives that have been down to DC didn't travel in private jets. The big three are asking for loans, not just an infusion of money like Wall Street. These loans have to be repaid with interest, so why are more people complaining about this than they did with the $700 billion bailout?
