    Towing

How many of you have towing on your car insurance?

I didn't have the insurance until just recently. I went off the road a few weeks ago while I was driving in a snow storm. I had to be towed a couple feet up a hill. It cost me $75. Yikes!

    I now have towing.

I have Triple A and that covers towing and roadside assistance. It's about $90 a year and it covers any vehicle that I'm in. I don't have towing on my regular car insurance.

Unfortunately, there's no AAA and I don't even think local insurance companies offer towing as a part of their packages where I live. I could check, but I know for sure it's not on now. $75 sounds about right though; I've had to tow a couple of times. :/

Most insurers have some type of tow coverage; you may need to ask them about it, though. However, I like AAA, too, and have had that since the moment I first got insurance on a vehicle.

I also have AAA. It has saved my butt many times. I use to have the tow coverage on my insurance but found that although AAA was more expensive, it gave me more coverage. Plus, I could use the AAA for any vehicle I was in.

Most do you are right there, but most who have it and never really mention it during the sale have insane prices too. A buddy of mine needed towed from a car wreck sight (not his fault) and his insurance attempted to charge him over 200USD. :X

Yikes! 200 bucks sounds insanely unfair. I live in a place where most prices for services like that are inflated at least a little, because it's difficult to find and run services here, but I can't imagine a tow costing 200 unless it was over a significant distance.

I can see him being charged $200. It cost me the $75 and they only moved me a couple feet. I couldn't believe the cost. The tow companies sure do rack in the money.
