    Hitch hikers

Some friends of mine told me not to pick up hitch hikers from the street, it's dangerous. I don't know if they're right, but I never encountered a hitch hiker to pick up. What did you experience?

I don't see them as much as I used to and I feel bad but you just never know. I do not pick up hitchikers nor do I stop if someone is on the side of the road. I will call and get them help but I don't stop.

Hitch hiking is asking for trouble. Picking up a hitchhiker is asking for trouble. Anyone with common sense in today's world knows that.

Yeah I have to agree with you. In the past might be safe to pick up someone you did not know, but in today's world, it's always better safe than sorry.

I will only pick up someone that I know. I have seen a mom and a couple kids walking up the road before. I knew her car was broken down because I saw it. I stopped and offered her a ride because of the kids. I wouldn't pick up any other hitch hiker. It is to scary.

Not gonna happen (again). The first and only time I had picked someone up was a girl not that much younger than me (at the time), come to find out she was a run away and I was almost arrested for it. Bad luck but a good learning experience.

I have done this one time and it was a guy from school I knew (we were both in high school) and it was raining cats and dogs and we were two minutes from the school. These days though I don't care if I know you or not unless it's family it's not gonna happen.

Hitchhiking is just not safe. Not for the hitchhiker...who know who's car you just got in? and not for the driver...did you just let an ax murderer in your car? Sad to say but it's just a really really bad idea.

I am always afraid to pick up hitchhikers. It doesn't matter if I am driving alone or my hubby is with me, it just makes me nervous when I see a hitchhiker. My Dad was the world's worst for picking up hitchhikers. He always said he wouldn't want to be in their shoes and have people just keep passing him up. Luckily, he was never hurt when doing this.
