    Ben Spies MotoGP debut

It's confirmed that Ben Spies will replace Loris Capirossi for the British GP. Capirossi is injured and Rizla Suzuki has decided to let Spies make his debut early. Spies should also be running the 2 US GP races as well.

With the possible rule changes in AMA Superbike AND Spies desire to make the switch there is a possibility we could see both he and Mladin and one can hope Yoshimura Suzuki all make the transition to MotoGP. Mladin has been top dog in AMA Superbike for quite some time and Spies has been his only competition as of late. Mladin has stated that should Spies go so will he as there is nothing left in AMA for him. Suzuki has also stated that they are not happy with where the new owners or the AMA series want to go with the sport and that they may pull out.

My hope is to see either Yoshimura Suzuki take Mladin to MotoGP and Spies to either go as well or go to Rizla OR Yoshi and Mladin to go to WSBK. My dream scenario is MotoGP though. I want to see Mladin fighting it out with Pedrosa, Rossi, Stoner, and of course Spies.

That's awesome for him! It's also a big pair of boots to fill

I'm really curious to see how he (Spies) will do. As far as I know, this will be his first shot at Donington. I think he's put in his dues. Why not give him a shot? He's still young, and has a ton of experience. Maybe give 'ol 69 a run for his money

And after all his years, a shot at a full season at the Grand Prix for Mladin, before heading off to WSBK (which I don't doubt is his next playground) would do him wonders

Poor Ben had a bad trot at Donnington, he has yet to come to grips with a MotoGP bike......but when he does, look out! He may even be able to keep up with Casey! haha, just joking!
Seriously now, what a season so far eh? Lorenzo started well, fell in a heap, but WILL come back.... Valentino will not concede without a fight..... Pedrosa is always a threat...... Stoner goes from strength to strength, provided Ducati don't ignore the 2008 bike in favor of the 2009 model....
Nicky Hayden has a point to prove now he has the pneumatic valve engine....... Colin Edwards wants to stay in MototGP, so will have to prove himself.... Sete Coming back???????? wow.... what a year we are in for!

His 8th place quali was a great start but he didn't have a great race. 14th at the end. He wasn't expected by many to do all that much better. He was getting to terms with some apparent tire differences. He said he was getting faster through the race so I hope he gets a test in before his US races.

Ben Spies 2nd run in MotoGP at the US GP was FAR better for him. He ran up near the top all race and had a great placed finish. (6th or so?) At this point it had been confirmed that Capirossi was to stay on so Spies was leaving a calling card. I hope that Yoshimura Suzuki leave AMA superbike as rumored and go to MotoGP with Matt and Ben. Matt does a few (2-4) seasons and makes way for a new rider while Ben plays out his career in MotoGP. I want Matt to do at least 2 seasons in MotoGP before he retires and I think Ben can work up to a top contender quickly. Here's to high hopes!!
