MotoGP at Red Bull Indy Grand Prix

Well, MotoGP takes to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. First event like this here. Im not a big motorcycle race fan but I will be working security at the track this weekend. Its good money.

But I think it will be interesting to see these bikes race. Never been to anything like this so it should be an experience.

I know Salty is probably excited about it. Any thoughts on the race itself ?

I'd be more excited if I knew you were gonna grab ol' Saltbag some cool swag

Ya kinda. It's a spectacle. The hype of it being at Indy doesn't ring loudly for me though. Sowwy I've expressed my sentiments about the hallowed hall of Indy before, so I digress...

It looks like rain for the race. As for who I think might do well.. I haven't got the slightest clue For the sake of an argument though, I'll be rooting for Colin Edwards on Sunday

It wasn't the greatest race I've seen but the weather was appalling.

Funny because it was the first Moto GP I've seen in 3 years and what a race to watch. It was weird for me to see the race run anti-clockwise as well.

Well, it was an interesting weekend thats for sure. I had no idea they ran these things in the rain. These guys are crazy!

I enjoyed it though. My first time at a motorcycle race. These guys do amazing things on these bikes. What was wild was the Red Bull Rookies Cup. These were boys 13-15 years old! Not old enough to legally drive but out there racing bikes, just crazy.

I have to give credit to Nicky Hayden out there riding with a broken heel. Thats determination.

The weather was good Saturday but Sunday was horrible. It was rainy and the wind was strong as heck. 50-60mph gusts. They cancelled the 250cc race and they cut the MotoGP race short by 7 laps due to the wind. A good call for safety.

The crowd would of been a lot bigger had the weather been a lot better. But Indianapolis gave a great show anyhow and they will be back thats for sure. Next year its moved up a couple weeks and hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Oh, and Danica was there Saturday to present the pole sitter with a Tissot watch. Seeing how I was working security, I was down at the green room/media center and got to speak with her for awhile. That was actually my highlight of the weekend.

    Here are a couple pictures.

No problem Darklord, I got a chuckle. It was funny to see the looks on the worker's faces down there when I went over to her and she turned, saw me, smiled and gave me a big hug. They werent expecting that.

Managed to DL the race before it was spoiled for me. Good racing. Great result for Spies in his 2nd MotoGP race. To bad the weather was so bad.

Im glad you got to at least see it finally. Yes, the weather was terrible on Sunday. I was there firsthand, horrible. But this series was definitely given a warm welcome by Indianapolis. This race will be a mainstay for now Im sure. Next year the weather should be much better and they moved it up a couple weeks earlier.
