Not even a repeat of last year's hurricane would stop Valentino Rossi leaving Indianapolis with the MotoGP World Championship lead.

The reigning six time MotoGP champion arrives at round twelve with a 50 point advantage, equivalent to two race wins, after team-mate and title rival Jorge Lorenzo crashed from the lead at the last two rounds.

Rossi also won last year's inaugural Indy MotoGP event, which was stopped eight laps from the finish as the tail end of Hurricane Ike began dismantling the circuit around them.
