Thread: Television Inside Vans

What do you think about TV's inside vans? I think they are cool because the passengers will be entertained while traveling. I just hope that the driver of the van won't get distracted from the sound of the movie.

My sister has this in her minivan and she loves it. She got four wireless headsets, so the kids can watch their movies or play their games and she can listen to her music and everyone's happy. It makes long trips a whole lot easier.

I don't have any objections to the televisions. They definitely serve a purpose. At the same time, I think people still need to be alert and prepared and not just zone in on watching TV while traveling.

I can see the appeal of the TVs and DVD players for passengers, especially children on long trips. But I think it may be best if the audio was limited for the driver. I know there can be distractions from even hand's-free phones or other music.

I wonder what studies show about drivers distracted by audio?

Oh, these things definitely come in handy if you have kids. I had friends once who had a screen installed in his dashboard because he got stuck in traffic every day - it was nice, but I always worried when he was driving with movies playing and he wasn't in traffic.

The fact that it can distract the driver is the main objection of the TV's inside vans. When it comes to riding a car, I think safety should be the first priority.
