Thread: Who Loved Watching Speed Racer as a Kid?

I have to admit that even though I loved playing with Barbie dolls as a little girl growing up, I was also a bit of a tomboy. My younger brother and I watched Speed Racer cartoons regularly. Then years later, when it was still in syndication on some of the satellite channels, I watched it with my son. Did any of you all love this show as a child?

I never watched it and in fact when someone used a Speed Racer joke in a high school speech class I didn't even get it because I wasn't familiar with the show. I must have been watching something else instead.

I was a tomboy as well and something about this show always drew me in. I loved how Racer X used to come to the rescue all the time. I really didn't like how they did the movie for this.

I'm like you VROOM. For some reason, I had no desire to see the movie at all. But then again, I am that way with many of the classic cartoons that were made into movies in recent years. I have yet to sit through the Speed Racer, Scooby Doo, or even the Flintstones movie. I'm thinking I just don't adjust to change well.(:
