I can partially agree. The thing is is that they really opened up the whole Seattle scene and that was HUGE. I mean look at the bands that came along because of that. If you ignore Nirvana's music and look at JUST what they did for music at the time that alone makes them VERY significant. (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog and many more exist as they are/were due to Nirvana breaking through.)

I used to live near Seattle in early and mid 90's. To me those where the best days of music when you could go down to a little club and see Pearl Jam and Alice Chains play sets of music. I remeber going to see Mudhoney and Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) came out and did some songs with Pearl Jam nobody knew he was there which made it even better. The days of Plad shirts may be over but it wont be forgeten about.
As the poster abouve said if you look over Nirvana than your looking over the whole Grunge scene itself. The fact was grunge was around in the mid and late 80's but it wasnt know outside of Seattle till 1991 when Nirvana released Nevermind. I know Kurt died but look at the music that was around prior to grunge, it was all hair metal. Look at the music thats around today, now that grunge is gone look at what they consider rock and roll.
without a doubt, i would say peral jam, any other bad this is highly rated, they deserve to be at the top, so i cannot "hate" them.
all the boybands like take that ,boys to men, nkotb. All this is trash.
those bands have to be stopped.
I dotn know how u can put pearl jam as over rated!
